(tried to post this last night but for some reason there were problems)

    Saturday

Razor | Klas Törnblom, Ivory Scales | Soap| Madame Scodiloli Step Right Up | After Shave | Myrosol Aqua de Limón

A Saturday bedroom shaving stand shave; which is a very rare occurrence indeed. The early afternoon was spent indoor bouldering for two hours. Boring day for me, actually, hence the shave. I could get so bored I start to write poetry if I’m not careful…

Great edge on this razor; I haven’t used it for a while and I’d forgotten how good the edge was. Haven’t used the Myrosol for a while either; it really is a spring and summer after shave. Only 7 or so weeks till spring. I love spring. I want to marry spring and have its babies…

    A Crossover Soap Experiment
    Razor: C.V. Heljestrand Mk4
    Brush: VDH Boar
Soap: Dr. Bonner's Peppermint Hippy Soap
    AS: Pinaud Draggon Noir

This is NOT a purpose built shaving soap. Under the idealistic supposition that in shaving all things menthol are by definition good, I decided to see if I could make this work for shaving. There was something very Victorian chic about it having a Doctor's name in the product name. For all we know Dr. Bonner may well have been a Doctor of Arts and Letters but a doctor nonetheless. Besides it comes in Lavendar too and I can score it at the corner Publix supermarket for a couple bucks.
What I Liked: The peppermint was very nice and like most things really menthol resulted in a very tight, cool feeling on the skin. I mug lathered it with maybe a half teaspoon full of olive oil. It wasn't at all an uncomfortable shave, I rather liked the finish when I squeezed out the brush and washed my face rinsing it with cold water. HOWEVER,
The One Thing I Didn't Care For: The mug, after a few minutes of whipping with a boar brush was nearly overflowing. The down sided, we're not talking about lather, it was very airy and more like suds. It reminded me of what dish soap or bubble bath makes. I kept trying to whip the suds our of it but couldn't seem to. Needless to say, the linger time, once applied to the face was next to nothing. It wasn't an uncomfortable shave but suffice to say it wasn't the best crossover soap I've ever dabbled with. I suppose part of the problem is that this is a bit of a hippy vegan soap which by definiition lacks the requisite animal fat for a more substantial lather. I'm thinking maybe a dab of lard in the mug would tighten it right up Chemistry/soap guys please keep me honest.
My Questions: Would adding a healthy amount of glycerin make the lather more substantial? Is there anything I can do to reduce the sudsiness or should I chalk this up to the soap's composition and use it to make my armpits, rear-end and man parts smell like a candy cane?

    Edit: Oh Yeah, Go Rays!!!
