Thanked: 1185Technical Monday Shave
Would have loved to call in sick today but if three days wasn't long enough I doubt an extra day would make going to work suck any less. After yesterday's great shave this was really just a glorified touch up pass.
The older I get, the better I was

"Single in September" Day 2, although as stated earlier I had a headstart with this setup using it for a few days in late August in preparation. I thought I would highlight the KEY elements of my setup to introduce all to what makes each thing tick so to speak.
I begin with the oldest piece of the kit, alternating Carl Victor Heljestrand MK No.31 5/8 full hollow Eskilstuna Sweden Straight razors. Manufactured in Eskilstuna, Sweden for the retail trade of M.Kindal Paris, France in 1907-1910. Purchased in the Avenue de l'Opera storefront of Kindal by a presumed wealthy Los Angeles, California USA Gentleman as originally a 7 day set of 5/8 Swedish Steel with Sterling Silver pinning, Ivory spacers, and Genuine Hawksbill Tortoise scales. This would have been a very expensive days of the week set and perhaps a memento of this Gentleman's visit to Paris. Finely crafted and well balanced, I now own two of the original 7 day set and they rest awaiting each days shave in rotation in a genuine M.Kindal velvet lined signed clamshell case which originally held a pair of Fabrique en Suede MK32 Heljestrand set.
Shaving since the Fall of 2012 with primarily a variety of Heljestrand MK31's, this is my finest example of Carl Victor Heljestrand's craft. I have owned them in Ivory as well as aftermarket synthetic scales. I prefer them in the tortoise.
A archived photograph of the storefronts along Avenue de l'Opera in Paris in 1910 suggests what it might have looked like as the Los Angelino Gent departed a motorcar or carriage to enter the Kindal shop to purchase these fine blades.
