Sun July 12th - Sat July 18th (July 12th - In Memory of Neil Miller)
It is so much easier to mourn in silence; it takes away the worry of not being able to get your words out, or even just simply getting the right words out. But silence or not, one thing which I am sure we all appreciate today, is being here all together, sharing in each other's silence, sharing in each other's moments of thought for Neil Miller, who we all knew as a dedicated member and dear friend of our community.
Today’s SOTD is dedicated to the passing of Neil Miller (08 July 2015)
Razor: Wade & Butcher
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2
Lather: Tabac

Neil was such a strong person through and through, from character, personality and presence. We are all here because somewhere somehow, we have all been touched by Neil. We were all very lucky to have had him in our lives and as much as he will be missed by us all, he will remain with us all, every day, as long as we can remember.
Rest In Peace.

I don't have much to say except that we have lost a very close friend, SRP member, man of endless knowledge & more............
I still add thanks to his posts because I know he is looking down at us. I mentioned this last night in a reply to a member because I was reading over his most recent posts & have more to go. I have learned a lot from him & will continue to do so.
He will be missed very dearly!Last edited by engine46; 07-12-2015 at 04:33 AM.

I will miss my pal Neil, as I'm sure we all will. I hope he is on a fast motorcycle going round the heavens where there is no more pain, no more tears, and we will meet again someday.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Rest in peace, Neil. You taught me about strops and stropping, and so much about the history of razors. You were always available to answer my questions. Your responses to "stupid comments" made me laugh. I will remember you daily as I use your strop, made by a true artisan and a wonderful character.Richard

Today I'm shaving with my "G. Gowen" 13/16 Sheffield wedge which I bought from Neil when I first started out with straights about 15 years ago.
The Thuringian stone was also recommended by Neil and I purchased it from him too. At the time I thought I paid an astronomical price for it - but I've since come to regard it as one of my all-time best buys in wet shaving.
Others have written about Neil's strops. I've been using his shell cordovan (brown, above) for years but a couple of weeks ago I got curious and ordered one of his bridle strops (red, above). The box arrived only a couple of days before he died, complete with strop, the usual polite, hand-written note - and the free gift of an extra Chromexel strop (black, above). I barely had time to thank him.
Neil was a legend here for his unselfish sharing of information - how many of us would rush to click on his name when we saw he had written a new post?
It's a poorer place now but in my own tiny way I'm going to try and do my very best to follow his example.
God Bless.

All the posts today are in honor of Neil. Did I jump the gun on Friday?
