A Very, Very Special SOTD
For eight weeks I have been shaving with the brass handle razor with Schick Super II blades pictured due to an attack of Shingles in my left eye. If ever there was hell on earth that was it. Today was the first day of recovered sight where I wasn't seeing double or having to close my left eye to see clearly. As shown I celebrated with a marvelous two pass, face lathered, shave using:
Meißner Wild Oranges
Rudy by HARRYWALLY
Gotta 5/8 Bellied Razor
Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel
I am once again content with the day that starts with a straight razor shave.

Thanked: 250March of 2015 is when I had shingles on the left side of my forehead and I know what you are going through. I just didn't shave for two months. My vision was blurred and I had gobs of mucus covering my left eye ball. Some nerve damage still remains on my forehead and my hearing is still impaired in my left ear. My advise to everyone here is to get the shingle vaccine shot. Shingles, especially on the head, are pure HELL.

Yeah, that residual nerve pain is no fun. Left forehead and bridge of my nose flare up here and there. Hell on wearing glasses at that moment. But, like it is said, this to will pass. I have always advocated the vaccine but in my case I couldn't get it. Back in 2009 I went through cancer and brought up the vaccine to my doc and he said in no way since the vaccine is a live virus. Forgot about it and thought I was free and clear. Saw my oncologist on another matter after this happened and asked again about the shot. He again said no way and now has me on a once a day low dose anti-viral to boost my immune system (for life.)
