mon 6/25
this week i'm trying out six pieces of a seven day set (the seventh is beyond repair
hot shower
20/30 TM horsehide
shavemac 429
TGQ bay rum w/ sweet orange soap
Wm. Hilliard & Son, "The Douglas" #1, 6/8 round point
3 passes, some touch up
witch hazel
TOBS bay rum
i had a technique issue with the shave, normally i use a spanish point or a spike and do a great job right in front of my ears, the round point left a little there that i had to go back over to clean up.Be just and fear not.

the Wapi will be just fine in your hand. The key to an enjoyable shave with a heavy razor is finding the proper balance between the scales and the blade by simply adjusting how far you open the scales. YMMV.
Quite a few of the larger (7/8+) bladed razors are in the 55-65gr range, depending on the scales. After the Williams, my next heaviest is a 67gr Livi also in staghorn, in olivewood a nearly identical razor is 48gr.
As for how experienced... my whole life, except when i wore a full beard, and i'm 41 now. Just got the William's this spring.Last edited by syslight; 06-26-2007 at 06:12 PM.
