    Sorry for the absence gentlemen.
March is end of our fiscal year, so very busy unfortunately.

    Great shave this early morning.

Me and another gentleman from this websites online forum (Sharp Razor Palace), got hold of each other and swapped a few different shaving soaps.

Yeah...it was free. Just fellowshipping with another wet shaver. (THANKS, GASMAN)!

I got four samples of shaving soaps that interested me, out of his list of 45 soaps. (I sent him about 4 as well).

The one I used today was Declaration Grooming’s, “Massacre of the Innocents”.

The scent is my wifey’s absolute favorite.

It is a spin-off of the fancy cologne, “Herod”.

I got 3 total face and head shaves out of that sample. I scraped the little 1”x2” ziplock bag with the shaving brush to get the very last bits of it.

I gotta say, it was probably the best consistency on a shaving soap that I’ve ever tried.

Slick, crazy nice post-shave conditioning, easily lathered like there was no tomorrow, and the consistency was awesome.

One caution. It is a brownish lather, so I used a synthetic brush just in case. I didn’t want to “possibly” stain one of my badger-haired brushes.

    Just a fantastic lather.

    As for the brush.

It was my first ever shaving brush. And I didn’t know ANYTHING about brushes when I purchased it. (Other than badger was supposed to be the bomb).

Bottom line, it is the worst brush I have ever owned. Is was a nasty, cheap badger brush, that never splayed properly. On top of that, it ALWAYS splayed crooked and lopsided.

    I just hated it.

I hated it so much, that every time I looked at it, I thought it was the worst $42 I’ve ever spent in my life.

Just left a bitter taste on my tongue...like I was sucking lemons. (Yeah...I felt THAT ripped-off).

So at one point I told myself I’m gonna swap out the cheap badger bristles for a synthetic one. And even if I ruined it while doing so, I didn’t care. It couldn’t be any worst than having a brush that I’d never use.

So I got a synthetic knot from Maggard’ or West Coast Shaving...and I drilled, chiseled, and Dremeled away.

It’s the first knot I’ve ever replaced. And if you look closely, you can see the grey 2-part epoxy between the handle and the knot.

But let me say, it is an incredible knot.

Love lathering and painting with it now.

As for the straight. It is one of two that I re-honed last night, and it’s cracee sharp.

    Bottom line, great shave today.

Wish I had the matching balm.

    Straight: Hibbard Spencer Bartlett
DE: Carbon Shaving CX-316L (head shave)
Lather: Declaration Grooming “Massacre of the Innocents”
Brush: Mühle (with swapped synthetic knot)
