    Stupid smooth shave this morning.

A while back I made a conscious decision about something - To be more frugal about spending money on shave software.

So I decided to find an outstanding UNSCENTED soap and balm (which I did), and always stay stocked-up on them.

This way if a scent profile ever caught my attention, I only need to purchase the splash. So after my shave, I only need to apply the “smell good,” because an unscented soap and balm have already been used to protect and nourish my face and head.

By the way, I never mix scents…ever. In my mind, it is a waste of money to spend so much on a luxury scent, only to mix them together and smell like a cheap incense shop. Just a bunch of different smells all mixed together. Blah!

And more importantly, I save massive money, as I do not need to purchase an entire soap/balm/splash combo set.

And as an added plus (as was this case), I can try out the scent BEFORE investing in purchasing the entire set. Because…heck…what if I don’t like it?

I’m aware of sample sets. But sometimes certain soaps do not sell samples of their soaps, balms, or splashes.

And “if” the scent is fantastic, I’ll go back and purchase the entire combo set.

Anyhoo…since I’m always on a tobacco scent search, I’ve been wanting to try out, “The Soloist”.

It got super good reviews by everyone.

So it arrived yesterday, and I got to try it out this Sunday morning.

It is a mild scented splash (maybe a 4/5 out of 10), and has a very mild and pure tobacco scent. It reminds me of what the pocket of a jacket smells like after holding a pack of cigarettes in it for a while. But with a touch of sweetness.

I’m guessing the sweetness comes from the rum scent.

And I’ll go so far as saying the pink pepper scent is what makes the sweetness smell unique. (The scent profile is tobacco, rum, pink pepper).

Bottom line, the scent was nice. My wifey totally liked it. Mellow. Not like I’ve been at a bar or anything.

But I’m glad I did not spend money on the entire set. It is a clean scent. But it didn’t leave me in awe. The splash was enough.

And by the way, the splash has witch hazel, so there is no crazy ugly alcohol burn. I like that. (Personally, I HATE the alcohol burn)!

It was a super close and smooth shave with the Ralf Aust. And the balm and splash did their jobs in an excellent manner.

    Crushing Sunday.
