Friday 6/10/09 - Gaines Razor
Today's shave was with a Gaines razor I picked up locally. I had to replace one of the ivory scales which had a broken ivory scale. I have to say, I don't recall any of my other blades shaving as smooth as this one. I believe this to be a rare find but if you ever run into one of these, regardless of the condition, you should pick it up and bring it back to life. You won't be sorry you did.
Strop: Tony Miler horse hide
Brush: Shavemac 23 mm Silvertip
SC: Truefitt and Hill Rose
Razor: Gaines
AS: Royall Musk
Shave: As good as they get and maybe better.
I have other pics posted here if you are interested:

Thanks for sharing the info about how she shaved, Joe. I can't believe you're still outsourcing for your shave cream needs, though... ;-p

You're welcome. She is an odd shaped blade but surprisingly comfortable to shave with besides super smooth. You may want to take her for a spin when you come for the meet of some time in the near future.
We don't say outsourcing here. We say benchmarking. I've got it so I have to use it. It's starting to be as many options is shave soaps and creams as there are razors. SOme days I just can't make up my mind as to which to lather with so I ask CarrieM or JrJoed to choose.“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.” (A. Einstein)
