My forth shave
I don't have the good soaps yet just a puck from Meijer and a Body Shop synthetic brush But It's only my forth shave and This time I didn't need to touch up with a disposable. Not BBS mind you but satisfactory. And still no nicks or razor burn from a straight.
BTW can any one tell me more about this razor It's a Henckles And has 1078 Stamped on the shoulder. If so please PM me anything you know about them.Last edited by gandrw; 05-26-2010 at 02:43 AM.

Funny thing is I'm getting more comfortable shaves with what most of you would consider Dull Straight Razors than I used to with any other shaving method I've tried. Now I just need to work on getting my Razors sharper and a closer shave should fall right into place.

Thanked: 530Just a quick thought... The Body Shop synthetics are actually quite nice brushes, as far as synthetics go... top three, in my opinion... However, if you want to upgrade the lather from that Meijer's stuff (Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shaving Soap, right?) Head back to The Body Shop and pick up their Maca Root shaving cream... It's only 15$ for a BIIG tub of it (6.3 ounces!) and this stuff works WELL. One of my preferred creams, actually.
And a veeery nice Razor... Henckles are lovely shavers

Actually I forgot to mention that I mix a little of the Body Shop cream in but I don't care for creams that much And want to get some good Puck Soap.
I plan on getting some from Carrie M soon. Also plan on making a Badger Brush from the Golden Nib

Thanked: 522SOTD TUES. MAY 25
I recently acquired a WORKMAN razor from Sham. Very inexpensive and it shaved very well. Not one to let well-enough alone, I tried to improve the already good edge by some light laps on wool felt with .5 dia. paste, a few light laps on the 16k and 50 on the Nakayama. Then 100 on Bridle leather.
Out of 85 razors, this one is now #2 in the closeness and smoothness department which is a tribute to Sham's original bevel set. A very utilitarian razor with no mfg stamp, no shoulder and only one pin at the hinge but what a super shaver. I hope the pic comes through.
This is definitely my shave of the day and buy of the year.Last edited by mrsell63; 05-27-2010 at 04:28 AM.
