I second that! Very nice photo. I drove over the GW this past weekend and your photo does not capture the typical traffic jam/aggravation that accompanies a trip over this bridge.

FYI, there is another bridge, in NYC, after you go under the buildings that is called the Alexander Hamilton Bridge. The roadway was in dire need of repair. During the night, they close down all lanes except for one that leads to the Cross Bronx Expressway, the Major Deegan and the Harlem River Drive. At about 5AM, the re-open the lanes and leave the roadway.
The issue is that they create a traffic jam throughout the night that carries over into the morning rush. The only thing you can do in the future is take the lower level.

Smile Week of August 22 "Themed" SOTD - Saturday

Pre-Shave: Hot shower + Stephan's Conditioning Smooth Shaving Creme
    Pre-Shave Oil: Truffit & Hill
Razor: 6/8" Dubl Duck Goldedge, Hollow, Spike Point (A Max masterpiece - Thanks Max )
    Brush: 23mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Überlather: CarrieM Dragon's Blood Shave Creme + Mama Bear's Trade Winds Shave Soap + Glycerin
Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel (Lavender, no alcohol)
    ASB: Truffit & Hill Trafalgar
    Facial Moisturizer: Trumper's Facial Moisturizer
    Cologne: Penhaligon Racquets
Picture: Today's picture is during a 2008 hike in Red Canyon, Utah (near Bryce Canyon). Weather was getting a bit unnerving as lightning storms were developing all around us with us exposed at the top of one of the mountains with this lone plant (couldn't resist the shot though). You can even see "micro bursts" in the far horizon.
Result: Today, we are going to Santa Barbara wine country with some friends, so what better way to make this trip AND to end the SOTD theme week than with one of SRP's own master craftsmen masterpieces, "The DUCK that laid the golden egg"? I love this Duck. Lather; check. Prep; check. Duck; check (Hell, yeaaa). Shaving with the Duck; Ooooooohhhh, priceless and awesome . Off to Santa Barbara. See you guys later on.

I'm tied up at home today, so here's a few from a recent surfcasting trip to Montauk, L.I., which bills itself as the Surfcasting Capital of the World... Now, that might be a bit of a boast, and I'm sure that fans of Cape Hatteras and the islands off Nantucket might take exception, but "The Point" is a Mecca...
A friend from Colorado came out with his brother from New Jersey in search of Stripers... It was a beautiful mid_May day, and my friend did not go home disappointed... Not a monster, but a nice Bass!

The mighty Atlantic... Next stop.. Ireland!

I'd like to thank all my SOTD brothers who participated for a most enjoyable week of SOTD tales and photos, and to Max and Glen for dreaming the whole idea up...

It was simply an awesome week!

It gives me all the more reasons to make my stuff complete (haven't come to that yet, i'm afraid ) But this thread has given me even more inspiration to do so.

This picture was taken earlier in the week. I believe they call the pond The water shops. It feeds to what was once part of the Springfield Armory. Which made firearms from 1777 to 1968

    Saturday 8/28/10

    Workman 5/8
    Golden Nib Finest
    Coates Limited Edition sc
    Thayers WH astringent w/ aloe
    KD Creations a/s milk
    Alt Innsbruck cologne

A fantastic, if not slightly damaging (see styptic pencil in pic) shave with the scary sharp Workman (TY JoeD). The new Coates shave cream is wonderfully smooth and cushioning (not unlike the original) although it took me some work to get it right. A couple of nicks (one when I was distracted by SWMBO calling upstairs to tell me I received a package of cigars from Switzerland...ahem )...but otherwise as good a shave as I have gotten with a straight.
