    Default Monday Evening

    Location: Coffs Harbour Australia
    Prep: Hot Shower
Strop: Chalked Seatbelt strop (20 laps) Illinois 835 (60 laps)
    Razor: Invicta Coronet 6/8
    Brush: Comoy Badger
Soap: Wahl Traditional Barbers Shave Cream
    Astringent: Dickenson's Witch Hazel
A/S Balm: Nivea Replenishing Post Shave Balm
Shave: One pass WTG on two days of growth
This baby just recieved a touch up yesterday. Not because it really needed it but my honing skills have improved since I restored it, and so has my collection of hones. Took it from around the 8.5 out of 10 score to somewhere in the high 9's. This was also a nice opportunity to try out the new lightbox I made last night
Result: Real nice shave, about as smooth as you'll get with one pass. Very satisfying.

This DOVO always delivers. Two days' whisker growth laid to waste!

Back in my hometown Memphis visiting family. Photo taken this morning looking north from Tom Lee Park, just below the Chickasaw Bluffs on which downtown Memphis sits. Downtown is off-camera to the right; Mud Island forms the right bank in the picture. The pictured Hernando Desoto Bridge carries I-40 across the mighty Mississippi River.

Nice shot Greg...Enjoy your labor day visit with family

Thank you Robert! It gives a very smoooth and close shave, I really like how the near wedge and weight behaves together . This one and my Mappin and Webb are my favourite near wedges.

SOTD Monday (Labor Day in U.S. A.) September 6, 2010

Razor: 11/16 Early Henckels 401, Twin Works, Solingen Germany, Full Hollow, Spike Point
    Pre-Shave: Crema Pre Barba
    Shaving Cream: Erasmic
    Lather Bowl: Ceramic
    Scuttle: RAB Ceramic
    Brush: Medium Badger
    ASB: Nivea replenishing
    Aftershave/Cologne: No. 4711 EDC

Results: Perfection! This morning I used the Henckels that I stropped on the pasted strops (1 Micron Hematite & .5 Micron CrOx) and it was outstanding! The Henckels delivered a virtually one pass shave. If I were to get a shave as close as the first pass with the pasted Henckels with a cart or DE razor, I would have stopped and called it a DFS or near BBS. The pasted stropping has really taken the honing experience to a higher level!

Prep: Proraso Pre Shave Cream & hot towel
    SC: Proraso
    Brush: Shavemac DO1
    Razor: 8/8 Filarmonica 14
    Astringent: Thayers Peach Witch Hazel
    ASB: Nivea Replenishing
    AS: Floid Blue

Wow, what a great shave. This is one of the razors that I found in my closet late Saturday night. It was in an old cigar box full of razors that belonged to my grandfather who was a barber. I stored the razors away 15 to 20 years ago, well before I had ever thought of shaving with a straight razors, and I had forgotten about the box.

This was the first shave with this razor and the first time with an 8/8 razor. I loved the weight and feel of the razor.
