    Default Yesterday's Shave

    Soap: Proraso
Razor: "Solgen" from Kanayama Strop Co.
    AS: Shiseido "Basala"
Result: Amazing. This razor is everything I had hoped for, and then some more. I am officially addicted to Japanese Steel and Craftsmanship. I am sure you all will be seeing a lot more eastern shave gear in my SOTD's starting now...

Aura Glow as a Pre Shave Oil
Omega Sapone da Barba Shave Cream
    New Forest #2211 Silvertip
    Hayashi Diamond #74 13/16ths
    SRD Premium I Strop ... 35 Linen/70 Leather
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Nivea AS Balm
    Spanish Floïd Suave

Only Performers for today's shave... No stiffs or slackers allowed!
The H. Diamond is the undisputed heavyweight champ in the collection. Today it provided what I believe to be my closest shave ever... I can't imagine better... And it's smooth as glass!
I used to think I preferred brushes with bigger knots until the two brushes from New Forest arrived. Today, I used the Silvertip and it just continues to impress.. The lather gets applied to my face instead of staying locked in the brush. I just may be a convert to smaller brushes.
Omega cream.. It just always works for me and provides great lather.
Floïd Suave... What can I say? My current fav!

Today was a shave to savor and remember...

No bumps... No burn... No bull!

And, I'd like to thank everyone for their "Little Shaver" photos! It was great to see everyone in simpler times!

Post Week of October 17 SOTD - Saturday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Razor: 7/8" Le Grelot "Hospital" 14, 3/4 Hollow, Round Point
    Brush: 25mm Vestavia Silvertip Badger
Überlather: AOS Lavender + Mitchell's Wool Fat + Glycerin
Astringent: Thayer's Witch hazel (Lavender, no alcohol)
Moisturizer: D.R. Harris Arlington After Shave Milk
    AS Splash: Floïd Italian Amber
Result: It's always a pleasure to shave with this Le Grelot...especially after a nice 6 mile run/hike in our local mountains (Ahhh!! the smell of fresh air after a good rain. There's nothing better. With no one on the trail ). The beautiful butterscotch micarta scales (done by Max) really fit this blade well. The slick überlather composed of a mix of AOS lavender/MWF was not only pleasant to smell but also wonderful to work and prep the beard with. Very moisturizing . The Grelot effortlessly mowed the whiskers away, leaving nothing but a refreshingly smooth skin in its wake. The finale was with a concoction of the D.R. Harris Milk and Floïd Amber, which gave the ultimate moisturizing finish to an excellent shave. Today is going to be a very long Saturday for us and my face is ready for it.

    SOTD Saturday October 23, 2010

Razor: 6/8 F. H. Loeffler Co., "Our Drummer", Full Hollow, Spike Point - Rescaled in Basic Black
    Pre-Shave: Proraso Crema Prearba
    Shaving Cream: Proraso
    Lather Bowl: Ceramic
    Scuttle: RAB Ceramic
    Brush: Omega Boar
    Astringent: Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    ASB: Nivea Replenishing
    Aftershave/Cologne: Pinaud Clubman ASL
    Results: Outstanding!

The Loeffler "Our Drummer" razor is one of the sharpest and best shaving razors I have in the rotation! I can't believe I was so lucky picking up something this good on the Bay for just $10. bucks! It needed some blade polishing work, resetting the bevel and putting an awesome edge on it, followed by a rescale to replace the broken bone scales. With just this little TLC the razor is a pleasure to use and provides outstanding performance. Great shaves shown by all this week Gentlemen! Have a great week-end. I'm being evicted from the house today by my DW; she is having her Garden Club meeting here with about a dozen women having their luncheon. Needless to say, she didn't have to ask me twice to leave! LOL
