They sure are! Well, no but it´s still a very nice soap, I like it and maybe I´ll buy another one when it´s finnished. I gives the best protection of the hard soaps I´ve tried (cushion effect is very good), but I also think that the Bomb gives as good cushion effect (thanks Bill, for the samples). The scent is special and if you like that, it´s another + factor. If it was a little slicker/more slippery I would have said "yes, it´s worth it". Only _my_ thoughts though, some people swear by the stuff.

Thumbs up Week of January 9 SOTD - Saturday

Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 22mm Vulfix Super Badger
Razor: 8/8" Dorko, Full Hollow, Round Point
Strop: 55/65 (Torolf linen/Premium IV leather)
Lather: Ogallala "Bay Rum" Shave Stick (Thank you Rene )
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Spanish Blue AS
Eau De Toilette: Floïd Spanish Blue EdT
Results: After an 8 mile run/hike, I was very much looking forward to this morning's shave. A couple of days ago, Rene surprised me by sending me an Ogallala Bay Rum shaving stick. Two things came to mind; (1) I never knew Bay Rum to smell sooooo good (I guess I've been smelling the wrong things ), and (2) I had never before used a shave stick (so this was my first experience with it). Using it was very interesting...didn't know what to expect. So, I put some Glycerin in the palm of my hands and mixed it with some water and rubbed it into my 2-day old whiskers (no shave yesterday) for ~30 seconds. Followed this by rubbing the stick all over my beard for a good 30 seconds and proceeded to make lather directly on my face using the Vulfix brush...90 seconds later, I was treated to some very nice and thick cushion...Go figure!! The Dorko (which parenthetically was purchased from Rene) was the blade of choice for this special day (niece's birthday). She delivered a wonderfully BBS, irritation free shave.

It's going to be another busy Saturday for us....Firstly, it's my niece's 8th birthday celebration party today and wife and I are off to pick up some 100+ cup cakes, a birthday cake, and mom & dad. Second, we have another celebration party at one of my wife's relatives' place tonight right after the first party (don't know what the occasion is...but, hey it's a party ).

Have a SPECTACULAR Saturday gentlemen. May not get the chance to comment 'til late tonight or tomorrow.

I'm overwhelmed by the photography in these posts. I will sheepishly add my own contribution. Very utilitarian.

Soap: Pachouli Swirl (Goats milk soap locally made)
Shave cream: Casell Massey unscented-dab added to soap
Brush: Made Rite-well used vintage
Razor: Jaques LeCoultre frameback

Nothing fancy. Just a shave.

Best wishes to all.

Beautiful pictures this week, thanks for sharing, friends.

@Robert:
The flood is no prob for us, we live at the top of a hill.
But definitely we will do a trip to Israel this year, not to CA.
We are still planning this trip for may or june and we'll stay in Israel 18-20 days.
