    Amazing!
Thanks guys, I'm glad a lot of you liked the Rhino Beetle shot, I was worried you might all think it was a bit weird.
Bill, part of me wanted to keep him too. I think I liked him even more than the kids, but from the research my wife did they only live for around 12 weeks. I didnt want him to spend his golden years in captivity.
Tom. Thank you, thats quite a compliment considering the talent we have here in SOTD, and the fact that I know nothing about photography.

    Default Australia Day 26th January

Its Australia Day down here, a day we celebrate our heritage, have BBQ's and get the day off work. We had a great day, took the 4 kids to see the new Yogi Bear movie, had water pistol fights in the back yard and an early BBQ dinner.

Strop: A H Christian and Sons
    Brush: Comoy Badger
Cream: Wahl Traditional Barbers Shave Cream
    Razor: Bengall 6/8
    Astringent: Dickinson's witch Hazel
    A/S: Wahl Bay Rum
Tried to do my patriotic duty tonight. The Strop is a vintage Australian made strop, the cream and the Bay Rum are made in Australia. I dont know of any Australian made razors, but the Bengall is in my experience is the most common vintage razor in Australia, so thats close enough for me.
This one hasn't been near the hones for a while, but is still delivering fantastic shaves. Two passes were more than enough to satisfy me.

Thanks for all your posts and pics guys, we had some great ones yesterday.

No shave for me to day, but I'd like to say Happy Australia Day to Grant, and that you are all posting some gorgeous images today!

I have that exact same blade sitting naked on my shelf as I still need to put some scales on it. Have never even shaved with it. I have 2 other W.B's 'For Barber's use' razors but looking at the tang's engraving I believe that one to be one of the early ones. Mine also has a pronounced smiling spine but straight edge.

Fell asleep very early last evening. No shave, I went to work looking like a bum.

We need a "bar thread" in this forum.

    Prep:Hot shower
Brush: 22mm Custom Super Silvertip in East Indian Rosewood
    Strop:SRD PIV English Bridle
Cream: Bomb Custom Bay & Vetiver
    Razor: C Jul Herbertz
Hones: Norton 1k,4k,8k, Naniwa 12k, Asagi
    After shave: Master's Bayrum
    EDT: Cuba Red

Result: 3 passes this morning and I didn't want it to end. A very smooth and comfortable shave, man I'm having fun! Another antique store rescue. This one was in ok shape, I popped off the scales, cleaned them, and got rid of some scratches. Cleaned up the blade with 600, 800 paper (Safety note, don't hand sand while watching tv...I have a sliced thumbs to show for it)and then some semichrome polish. Took her to the stones and she took a beautiful edge, very very sharp, yet amazingly smooth. I've been having great success on the Asagi by honing until the stone is dry to finish and it seems to be doing wonders.

Great pics and posts this week men. Grant, your photo with the beetle was AWESOME!
Have a great Wednesday gentlemen, you've earned it!

LOL! I am still using the sterling candy dish...I ma waiting patiently for my Georgetown scuttle to get here..I can't wait, finally a warm shave without having to hold the dish under the hot water while I stir the creme!
