Thanked: 33I do use a rolls frequently. I've found it best initially to hone as you would a straight. (I use 1k, 4k, then8k) Then for touch ups I use the provided hone. You can get excellent results with the rolls once you set a good edge. Stropping takes time on the provided strop. For daily use 2-4 min stropping before each shave and 1 min after each use works for me. The initial stropping after setting the edge can sometimes take 15 or more minutes to get smooth. It's an investment of time to use a rolls, but it is capable of returning Awesome BBS for that investment.

Sandalwoods and Rums!
Al's Bodega + Mama's Sandalwood Vanilla soap -- FS 24mm Silvertip -- C-MON Blackie 7/8" -- Thayers Witch Hazel -- Ogalla Bay Rum and Sandalwood
I am falling in love with this C-MON more and more every time I use it, but today was a special shave: it all happened when i mixed Al's bomb with Mama Bears Soap. The uber that came out of that makes most other lathers I've whipped up in the past seem very ordinary and not so uber...
If you got these soaps/creams give it a whirl.
Have a great day everyone, shave on!

Thanked: 1185I'm reminded of my early shavette days when I often emerged from the shave cave looking like I had fought a raccoon for a bag of rancid shrimp. I think there's definitely some irony there, a straight razor guy chopping himself up with a "SAFETY" razor. Oh well, hope you're in shape for tomorrow's shave.
