    Monday 14/3/11

Today I will have a French inspired day. Started with heating a Schwartzweisskeramic XL scuttle with really hot water and putting a Simpson Emperor 2 in the water reservoir. So out in the living room finding a CD with Eric Satie`s Gymnopedies, wonderful shaving music. Back to the bathroom, preparing my face with hot water and some Fitjar Black Nyasha soap to soften the beard. Time has come for stropping the French razor T-I Crown Silverwing 11/16 on my Ambrose strop. Now on to the lather, today I took a touch of Fitjar Neroli soap on the brush, then some Castle Forbes Lime and went to work in the big SW. The result was a bomb of the finest smell in my bathroom. This hot premium lather felt wonderful and warm on my tired face and really got me awake It is OK to be just that when you have a Straight razor in your hand! 4 passes later and some Fitjar Neroli aftershave cream I felt ready for the new day after a perfect straight shave. I think a bottle of champagne and Ravel`s Bolero will round the day off nicely this evening!

Excellent shaves and pictures in this thread, thank you all and have a great day!

    Prep:Hot Towel
Brush:TGN 24mm Silvertip Custom in Cherry
    Strop:SRD PIV English Bridle
    Cream:Calypso Bomb
    Razor: Filarmonica 9/16
After shave: Ogallala Bayrum & Sandalwood
    EDT: L'Occitane Vetyver

Result: This is my first Fili and she was waiting for me when I got home from traveling on Friday. I'm a big fan of small razors like this as they are quick and nimble with great handling. She provided a BBS shave with 0 irritation.

Gentlemen, I'm drooling over each and every blade so far this week! Job well done!!!

Okay, so I dont own any French, Swedish or Spanish razors, however I have no idea as to the origins of the Superior Razor so for the sake of the exercise lets just say its...I dont know, Spanish?
    Strop: Illinois 835
    Brush: Franks Finest Badger
    Soap: MWF
    Razor: Superior Razor Wedge
    Astringent: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel
    A/S: David Craig Bay Rum
Result: Just 2 passes tonight but that was more than enough to keep me happy. The superior is a silent assassin, it makes almost no noise as it mows down whiskers. Another great shave. Thanks for indulging me with the Spanish thing.
Thanks for all the great posts.
    Have a great day Boys.

During today's shave, the crazy thought crossed my mind to sell all of my other razors and soaps! These two are that good!

Excellent photos so far this week everyone! I now am on the hunt for a W&B after yesterday's display.

    Argus Razor/Vie-Long Horsehair/Wilkinson Sword soap/Pierre Cardin

It was a bit of work this morning to get good lather out of the Wilkinson, but after I hit the sweet spot on the H2o to soap ratio, I was rewarded with a Mega DFS. I do prefer the fancy urinal puck smell of the Wilkinson over the common urinal puck scent of Arko. But I like them both..

Gentlemen, as always Great Pictures of SOTD. The photo skills at SRP are amazing.

Very nice Arild. Beautiful hardware and certainly some very nice music. Can't go wrong with Maurice Ravel.

Very nice hardware/software Frank. I am glad you like the Candre. She's a lot of soap. And the Fili: awesome rescale by Max. Very classy. I don;t blame you for having thoughts of selling off the others

Post Week of March 13 SOTD - Monday

(Yet Another) French Connection - oh là là

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 24mm Morris & Forndran, 2-band, Blonde Badger
Razor: 5/8" Thiers Issard Celbration "Silverwing II" Lt. Ed. #165, Hollow, French Point (Ram's Horn)
Strop: 40/65 (Torolf linen/Premium IV leather)
Lather: Martin de Candre Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
After Shave Balm: eShave Almond + L'Occitane "LOccitan"
    Cologne: 1967 Guerlain Habit Rouge
Results: between the Swedish/Spanish and French razors, I chose the French today...specifically the TI Silverwing. She's a fantastic shaver. One heck of an edge. I received the MdC soap this past week direct from a friend from France (bypassed the usual crazy S/H $$$) and I was very very very happy. She smells amazing and the lather is even better. Off to a great start this Monday morning. Smooth and BBS face .

Excellent razor porn you guys...Have a FANTABULOUS Monday.
