I love it, one of my top 5 AS:s and it´s dirt cheap for you guys

Those are my favourite stones and the edges I get from Neil are stupied nice. We did a test once, where he honed several blades on different finishing hones (a Japanes natrual, a Y/G Esher and Shapton pros) and I liked the ones best that had been honed on all the way on the Shaptons. It was never a question about that result for me.

Edited: You don´t allways need to go all the way to 30k, often 16k is enough, as I understand it.

I know...easy to get. I have a great source on eBay who sent me a bunch of full size samples too.

Yeap. True. The 16k is with the Shapton GS. The pros series (ones I use...not that I am a pro) jump from 12k to 30k...no intermediate. The pros are terrible for Stainless Steel (in my hands)...Nothing happens. For SS blades, best to use the GS series.

Looks like you are getting pretty close to a 10/10 shave now.
The Shaptons seem to be a pretty sweet set of hones
I'm enjoying following this experiment of yours, and would like to thank you for sharing them with all of us.

    Lovely shot as well
Thank you Birnando. I appreciate the kind words. It's been fun. Wait 'til I get you some SEM pictures of some the edges of blades (crappy ones that Rene sent me...which he doesn't care for) with different honings. Not that it will mean anything, but at least it'll be fun. Just for laughs.

    Oscar,
Well I guess what they say is true then. Man cannot live with his blades alone, LOL. Are you still on the road? Be safe. Great shave

I ran this razor on the 4000/8000 today. I did the progression and after speaking with Rene this afternoon decided to also run it on a 12K. Did the 12K and then 15 laps on Crox, 50 on linen and 50 on leather.
    Jeff,
Nice nostalgic shave with a terrific razor with some very interesting history behind it. Thanks for sharing. I see that Rene has gotten you hooked to the C12k, LOL.

Sounds like an awesome shave Jason. Why would you think that the bottom will fall out? It always gets better.
