Adoration Axe, another go at it!!
Put her back on the stones today and tried again.
Hot shower,
warm oil
Dirty Bird Scuttle
Badger Brush
Gentleman's Best Signature Series Shave Soap/Cella Shave Cream/Glycerine
Adoration Axe, 1/4 hollow
AOS Aluminum
Old Spice
Vaseline for men.
Put the Axe back on the stones, stopped after the 8K Norton. Edge was sharp but harsh. Took the whiskers off no problem. Tomorrow I'll run it over the 12K and then maybe the .5 Crox and then strop. Hopefully that will smooth it out a bit.
The combination of soap/cream/glycerin caused the brush to give rise to a ton of suds. After three passes, the suds were still filling the scuttle.
Enjoy

Thanked: 1072Strop: Illinois 835Enjoy the weekend fellas
Brush: FS Finest Badger
Soap: Proraso
Razor: Bengall 11/16
Astringent: Thayer's Unscented Witch Hazel
Balm: Nivea Replenishing
A/S: Wahl Bay Rum
This Bengall just had a touch-up on Coticule and Thuri. Although it did deliver a great shave (near BBS after 2 passes), I feel that It should be a little sharper and a little smoother. I've been finding myself in this situation a few times lately and I'm not certain weather its my honing, my new coticule or if I'm just getting more and more fussy about my edges. I'll give it a little more work next time the hones are out.

That Diamond of yours comes in really super cool scales Frank. I bet she's every bit as great of a shaver too. Great piece in your collection.
If only Max could get G10 Purple colored scales...Hmmmmm!! Food for thought.
Sten,
That's a beautiful "Mystery" razor. Nice scales too. Well done. Sorry about the suds (those darn pre shave oils always get in the way, LOL). have you tried just pre-shave oiling, leaving it in for 5 minutes, than washing it away? That's what I used to do in my pre-shave oil days and it worked like a charm. Whiskers are happy, brush is happy, suds are happy.
Béla,
That Wacker of yours is quite remarkable. Beautiful in every way. Congrats.
You too Konstantinos...and a great setup too
Thanks mate
B.,
Sounds like the perfect day...it certainly started with this marvelous shave of yours. Great EPBD my friend and of course, Arlington is top notch. Well done. Enjoy your loooong weekend.
Banks have a national holiday???
Great shave Mikael...Sorry about big Nick visiting, but those Wackers are known for taking on a very keen edge. Great gear today
Great Boker. They are great shavers.
Grant,
I think it's probably 2 & 3, not you. I have 4 coticules and for me, they're touch and go. They are finicky stones for sure (I think). Try different hones maybe? You'll get it to perfection soon enough with this blade...no worries there.
Glenn,
Now, that sounds like a heck of a nice plan. Have a great time at the meetup, have fun on your vacation with family and looking forward to seeing some of your razor projects. BTW: beautiful Engelswerk (and shave)
Jamie,
I think today's SOTD has your name all over it. I loved this one...Fabulous and creative from A to Z. Thank you for putting a HUGE smile on my face. Nicely done
I love it José...and it's always nice to learn a bit of historical fact about a razor. Thank you my friend

Thanks Robert! The scales on this H.Diamond are some of the nicest "stock scales" I have seen. They have a nice "cracked" effect to them that reflects light beautifully. The important thing though is that this razor shaves as good as she looks.
I am with you...Max should work his magic and create replica scales like these!

Razor: All i can read that is not worn off is Full Concave Warrented
Pre-shave: Noxzema
Brush: Unknown boar
Soap: Handmade Naturals Frankincense
AS: Thayers Lavender and Clubman
Result: I decided to see if I was still able to shave off of my black arkansas stone like I used to before I discovered synhetics. I set the bevel on my King 800 and then used about 100 strokes on the side of the arkie lapped to 600 grit. Then I used the other side that was lapped and polished dry to 2000 grit and did 200 more strokes. Shaved with it today, and I must say, pretty damn good shave. Very keen edge, though not as smooth as my PHIG.
