Fontana 5/8 | "Almonico Bombaceni" | Chubby 2 | Thayers Lavender | Bomb Tangerine ASB "Light" | Vetiver Extraordinaire

What a luxurious shave! I started out with a test sample of my newest custom scented Bomb - pure Turkish rose and sandalwood. The scent was out of this world, and it filled the den unlike any other SC I've used. Al warned me this took a bit more work to generate a lather, but it was worth every one of those extra 15-20 seconds. The lather was divine, and it left my face feeling so moisturized. Of course, applying that heavenly whipped goodness with the two-band Super Chubby is a luxury in its own right. The hardware today is my latest acquisition. It is an NOS Fontana. The blade is unbelievable. I think I can put a better edge on it than it came with. The only downside is that it came from the seller with scales that are horribly warped. All the same, I was left CBS in no time. The only bad part of that is that I didn't want to stop applying that lather! After the shave, I moisturized with a new formulation of ASB from Al's Shaving. I like this one much better. It goes on more smoothly and evenly and left my face feeling great. Then, I topped it all off with Frederic Maille's genius scent Vetiver Extraordinaire. I could not ask for a better start to the day!

Although we post some expensive kit (and what's not to love), a great shave can be had for little money.
Nicely done Jack. +1 on the kit comment

    Bill,
Congratulations on both fronts. The Fontana is an exquisite shaver, but sorry to hear about the scales (did the seller say they were warped?). Also, that Bomb sounds like a heavenly formulation. Rose/Sandalwood are the best of both worlds.

Cheers Robert! I'm sorry you haven't got yours yet, I love that big and crunchy extra stuffed silvertip he used for mine! I'm very happy with the looks of this one, suits me very well, indeed

I sold a razor to one of your countrymen and it has been laying at the Chigago usps unit for several weeks now (since the 5th of September).

Post Week of September 18 SOTD - Thursday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Brush: 24mm Thäter Silvertip Badger
Maxterpiece: 6/8" C.V. Heljestrand #32, 1/2 Hollow Ground, French Point (w/ Butterscotch Micarta scales)
Honing (refresh) Regimen: Maruichi Nakayama Asagi JNat w/ dilution on Botan/Mejiro/Koma/Tomonagura (very light) slurry, progressively diluted to water only.
    Strop: 30 (Ambrose Horsehide)
Überlather: Al's "Vetiver" Shave Creme + SRD "Vetiver" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-Free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Amber AS
    Cologne: Creed "Original Vetiver" EdT
Results: I don't know why, but the Swedish razors have a special place in my heart . One of Max' artistic creations, this Helje is no exception. She holds an amazing edge and is so much fun to use . The Vetiver concoction was no slouch. The lather was abundant, rich and super moist. Whiskers (whatever was left from yesterday) stood no chance against these power players. I am a very happy camper today and ready for another busy day working on proposals.

Have an INCREDIBLE Thursday gentlemen .
