Lovely shots and gear guys!!
I don`t like Monday`s, but today was an exception. My location on this planet is Norway, had the day off, wanted a great Straight razor shave (like every day), put on some relaxing music, Vangelis, 1492, Conquest of paradise and went to work.
I had a little celebration for myself today, because this was my first shave ever with a Custom Straight. Brian Brown made me this 8/8 Spanish point in Damascus steel with Ivory scales. Stropped it 40/60 linen/leather on a Scrupleworks 3", made myself a huge amount of thick, creamy, warm Fitjarsoap Telemark soap smelling exactly like a Lagavulin 16 Islay Single Malt, I really felt like a man, hehe.
I used my fairly new H. L. Thater 26mm Rein Dachs brush, and Gentlemen, this brush is in another leage talking softness of tips. You must try it to belive it, everybody owning one will know what I mean. Well, the Thater filled up my large Schwartzweisskeramic XL scuttle with ease, and my face waited hungry for the first silky strokes with the Telemark soap.
The shave was outstanding, I know I write that every time, but this one was better than all shaves to date in my life. The BB was heavy, large, beautiful and incredibly sharp. It felt as sharp as a Feather blade actually. After three passes, the last ATG my skin was as silky smooth as it can get, suddenly my face felt like a womans;-)
The last part of the enjoyment was stropping my new favorite razor again after use, put on a luxury amount of Neroli aftershave cream from Fitjar and felt ready for anything the new day might bring.
Have a great shave everybody!
Most times I call her little girlie, but she is not a little girl anymore.
I felt the same way about the weekend, way too short!!
Gorgeous razor!!!!!! I prefer to drink the Lagavulin to smelling like it.

PREP: Hot Shower RAZOR: Wade and Butcher BRUSH: Omega Boar SOAP: Napa Soap Co. Lavender and Cedar ASTRINGENT: Thayers Unscented ASB: Skinfood EDT: YSL M7 RESULTS: FEELS GOOD TO BE SILKY SMOOTH AGAIN :) I havent shaved since early last week and was looking grizzly. I knew the only razor to take care of this was the W&B. Cleaned down the whiskas with ease. The Napa Soap is a very hard soap, and I couldnt lather it with my regular Badger Brush. However once I used my boar on this soap it exploded with great lather. Nice cushion and glide, and the smell is divine. Topped it off with some YSL M7 and I am ready for a much needed day off, maybe a trip to Disneyland with the lady :) HAVE A FANTASTIC MONDAY GENTS!!!!
Sounds like a fun time to be had Tom. Enjoy the visit.
PS: Great shave
LOOOOOOOOL
Sorry to hear about the Nick brothers' visit Mikael, but it was worth it as this blade is gorgeous. Very nice. Also, a great match up between brush and coffee. That brush has "You" written all over it.
Who can blame you Otto. That must have been an amazing shave
Great shot GI...Don't work too hard.
Wowww. Congrats Bill. That Flaschner sure is a looker buddy. Al's latest and greatest sounds intriguing too
Grant,
4 days of growth should be no issues with that W&B. She's made for that. Well done mate.
Jack,
We'll miss you bro...Great shave to start your few busy days and fabulous wooden boat. She'll be fun to take out sailing
Thanks for the confirmation Joe
PS: Bill does have deep pockets...but most of his stuff should be looked at as investments that gain in value
LOOOOOOOL. It is comic relief Nic.
Nice Bengall Angel...Those are great shavers.
Heyyyy....no poking fun here guys. I don't even have pockets.
Great shave BM
Wowww Tim. That is a beautiful setup. Do you participate in that shooting competition every year?
Birnando,
That's a beautiful Novodur buddy and I agree with you...Those Spanish blades are something else
Hey buddy,
Welcome back to SOTD. You were very much missed. What way to come back too. Congrats on the BB custom and especially that Thater. I do know what you mean about the tips. These are amazing brushes indeed. What a great shave. Enjoy your day off

Looks like you had too much Whiskey!
Terrible face.
I've never participated in the event before. This one is kind of special It will take place in Pennsylvania near Easton I think. National Geographic is doing a story on antique weapons, collectors and shooters and I'll be there for the filming. Maybe I'll get on TV. There is a business up there that purchsed the entire arsenal of ancient weapons (From the 1700's-WWII) from the Royal Palace in Nepal. It was a HUGE load of stuff and they have it in several warehouses. The company (International Military Intiques Military Antiques, Military Collectibles and Militaria IMA-USA.COM) sells untouched muskets and rifles for collectors. I have 3 so far. They are letting us "plunder" their warehouse after the event so I'm sure I'll pick up one or two more!
I am still drunk from yesterday's shave, :p:rofl2:
Thanks buddy ";"
As a substitute to my missing SOTD today, here's another KAL cartoon for you guys' enjoyment

CONGRATULATIONS to both your daughter and the family for such a fine accomplishment. I bet you're more than just proud. In such uncertain world of kids going off the tangent, it's nice to see them stay on the right path. Give her a BIIIG hug on behalf of both my wife and I.
Oh My!!! Check out that beautiful smile. What a nice razor Glenn. Congrats buddy

If labs come back all clear tomorrow I should be released to go back to work either Wednesday or Thursday. Hoping more for the Thursday release but hey! Everybody I've seen recenty including Glen-gssixgun and Gerrit said I looked like I was in far better shape than the last couple times they saw me. I told Gerrit that considering the shape I was in I basically had no where to go but up :D

Locale: The happiest place on earth Music: Elvis - '68 Comeback Special Prep: Hot Shower / AOS Pre-shave Oil Razor: 9/16 Salamandar - Salamandar Werks Foche-Solengen (again) Hones: 3" chestnut leather Brush: Custom Silvertip Post: Ali Baliyki Alum - Humphrey's AF Face Moisturizer Uber: RazoRock Cacao AS: Gillette Sensitive Skin Balm Edt: Drakar Noir Result: I was looking forward to my second shave (or is it 3rd???) with this razor. I have rarely used one razor more than once every 2-3 weeks or so, and sometimes I think I might do better if I just used one for several days in a row. Since I honed this razor I thought why not this one. So, I'm going to continue to use this Salamandar as long as I can to see how my face reacts, how the razor reacts and how quickly it loses its edge. I'm not going to continually post pics of the same razor, even if I alternate the software. But, I will write about the experience here. Have a great Tuesday men!!
Happy Shaves Men!!!!

Yeah, nice shot. I love the razor (the scales and the blade, very nice patina, I hope you don't get rid of that!), but I esp like the echoing of the red in the strop and that other red object with the red in the Thayer's bottle. I like looking at these photos for the aesthetic qualities as much as wanton covetness :-)
