10-09-2011, 02:29 PM #1An AMAZING start to this week gents.
You enabler you, LOOOL
Mike,
What a beautiful and gracefully aged FR. She looks like she's got more than a couple of generations left in her yet. Well done
Carl,
Nice Klas...Is she too small or that the scales are on the thin side? Well done on a nice shave. Love those cuffllinks too. How many do you have?
Béla,
What a gorgeous set of scales on the ERN my friend. Just beautiful
EA,
I love that Dovo too. Very elegant indeed. I forget, is she a 6/8"?
Kalerolf,
You're not good, you're smoooooookin' . Well done on the restoration/honing. Enjoy the race. Who are you cheering for to be the winner?
Great razor Tom...And the Stone pushing troll is back, LOL. I guess Yoda is not back from his Greek vacation yet...I think he was Greeknapped, LOOOOOOL.
Birnando,
Now, that's s shave fit for kings. Beautiful setup
Ahhh Angel,
This razor brings back some memories. Thank you
Grant,
What a gorgeous blade. They are amazing shavers. Congrats. Sounds like you had a wonderful time with family down Coffs Harbour. Whale watching is fun to do.
I called 911 and they are on standby just in case you have a heart attack on mile marker 1, LOOOOOL. Seriously though, have a great run
Oh my Grant. Little Jack is not so little anymore...he (and his hair) is growing fast. Beautiful pictures. Tell him my nephews and niece (as well as the rest of family) say hello.
Beautiful shave Jeff. Glad you had a good time with the ladies. I don't know though! Going to the mall with the girls? I'd rather have a root canal, LOOL.
Enjoy your coffee with RW (Robert Williams?). It's good to know people in high places, eh, LOL?
Mikael,
I love seeing that DD/Puma. She's such a gorgeous piece of steel. Well done. That British Gillette ain't half bad either.
PS; you'll be happy to learn that I immersed myself in coffee indulgences while in Vegas (well, in the AMs at least)
That's what I like to hear. Great choice of soap Konstantinos. The whole lineup is fantastic.
That's what I like to call a "Cadelicious" shave. Well done D.
Great shave BM (as always)...did you change your avatar?
Glen,
What a nice treat...Enjoy lunch with your better half brotha. Love that Pelican (hadn't seen one featured as of late)

Week of October 9 SOTD - Sunday
All Things Custom...
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Brush: 26mm Rudy Vey w/ TGN Grade A Silvertip Badger (Kingwood handles) Razor: 7/8" Joe Chandler Custom, 1/4 Hollow Ground, Barber's Notch (w/ Mexican Kingwood scales) Honing Regimen: Naniwa SS 1k/5k/8k/12k, followed by Maruka Nakayama Asagi JNat w/ Tomonagura slurry with progressive dilution finished on water alone. Finished with 8 (light) laps on CrOx on sanded SRD Premium IV Bridle leather Strop: 0/50 laps (Torolf Linen / Ambrose Horse Hide Clásico leather) Überlather: Al's "Custom Spicy" Shave Creme + Mama Bear's "Myrrh" Shave Soap + Glycerin Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol) After Shave Balm: Al's "Spicy Orange" ASB Results: Today's shave is brought to you by the all American Custom Makers (Al's Bomb and MB software, Rudy Vey Brush and Joe Chandler razor)...well except the stones. I scored/negotiated this Joe Chandler last week with a seller on eBay and I honestly didn't know what to expect. However, when I opened the package, I was very pleasantly surprised to see her in such pristine condition. The mirror shine is amazing as are the Mexican Kingwood scales (love the grain ). Beautiful workmanship from the overall design of the worked back spine to the the thumb notch and monkey tail. All very nice and elegant touches. The only (minor) flaw was that the tang seems to be a bit on the longer side for me. But I must admit that this is no longer a concern as it took me no time to adjust to this style of shaving and the technique came naturally after a few strokes
. Even though she was shave ready, I didn't take any chances and off to the stones she went. She took on an amazingly smooth edge. The Rudy Vey whipped up mounds of uberlicious lather out of the MB/Bomb concoction (love the scent). I was disappointed with my first WTG pass as there was still 40% of stubble left. Subsequent XTG was better and going ATG with this razor was a dream come true
. I do not know why I had so much stubble left during the 1st pass
, but I attribute that to my technique as the razor performed flawlessly during ATG. More time with this JC would certainly be in the books in the future.
Max: This JC will be headed your way in the next few weeks for your perusal as well as visual and personal pleasure. I would love to hear your opinion on the razor and the edge I put on her. Feel free to tweak it.
Have a BEAUTIFUL Sunday gentlemen.

Razor – Mappin “double smile” wedge
Brush – Simpson Chubby#2
Soap – Coconut Island
AST – ALUM Bloc
AS – Ogallala Bay Rum w Sandalwood
Talcum – Caswell Massey, Jockey Club applied with Hess Barber brush
We’ll start the week off with a treasure I call the Pleiades set or Seven Sisters. This un-blemished set belongs in a museum but looks very nice in my shave den thank you. The double smile wedge shave is ultra-smooth. I am happy. Have a nice week.
