11-08-2011, 03:44 PM #91Razor:F.W. Engels Special
Brush:Rooney Pure Badger
Cream:Palmolive Lemon + Handmade Naturals Frankincense Super Lather
AS:Thayers Lavender and Avon Spicy
Resultecided to try a super lather with the Palmolive Lemon and the frankincense soap.Wasn't too sure how the two scents would work together, but to say the scent was intoxicating is a huge understatement.Could definitely stand to have a cologne or AS with this combo. The shave itself was nothing short of great. The Engels is always a pleasure to shave with.An all too short two pass CBS.Now it's time to go vote and later lose myself in some reading.Have a great day.

Thanked: 17November 8, 2011
Prep: hot shower and lingering lather
Brush: Rooney Silvertip
Soap: Fitjar Såpekokeri Lighthouse bay rum
Razor: ERN 1166 Crown and Sword
Post: RazoRock alum, Thayer’s Lemon Witch Hazel
I do like the way a heavy blade shaves... The ERN1166 had been waiting to be honed for a while, and in the end took two attempts (and probably could use a bit more refinement) to make it back into my shaving rotation. An easy two pass shave, cutting down 3 days beard with little effort.
Every time I lather up it gets a bit better, thicker, slicker and more cushion The Fitjar
bay rum is almost used up just I feel I am starting to get the most out of it
I do need to refine the edge and work on a comfortable (and confident) grip to venture into the ATG realm and a BBS shave. But until then I am happy with the results.
I hope to find the time to check out this week’s shaves, I am sure they are great and if not great at least good learning experiences.

Thanked: 1185Blew out of here this morning without logging my SOTD.
Prep: Hot Shower, Baby Oil Gel
Razor: Texas Shumate
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap: VDH Deluxe
AS: Aqua Velva Classic
Finish: Agua Lavanda Puig
Great shave! This razor is right up there with my C.V. Heljestrand when it comes to maintaining a great edge and just feeling real good in your hands. Also one of the few razors in my collection that I can date with any real accuracy. Shumate moved to St. Louis in 1904. This says Shumate Razor Company, Austin, Texas right on the shank so it kind of narrows it down to somewhere between 1898 and 1904. I can only hope to be such a performer at 108 years old.
Anyway, off to the gym for a quick 3 mile run then the customary post workout shower beers. The older I get, the better I was
