    Friday

Finally got my act together and remembered to take my little portable speakers and music player into the bathroom so I could listen to music as I shaved. Music for the day was Ben Harper, starting with ‘Morning Yearning’ from the ‘Both Sides of the Gun’ double album. Ben has a status that is somewhat God-like in my household.

In regards to the shave (which after all, this forum is all about), I persevered with the Klas Törnblom. It (or I) performed better than last time (where I had trouble with it on my newly ‘sans hair’ chin). I think maybe it was a combination of cream and technique. I’m going WTG (all over) then ATG (S to N) on the neck and some of the chin then XTG (W to E) on the chin itself (straight across). I believe I may have to do XTG on the chin W to E (L to R) to the centre and then XTG E to W (R to L) to the centre.

I do realise I stated a while ago that “I think BBS is over stated and never go ATG”, or words to that effect - or is it affect? No, ‘effect’ I believe it is, as ‘effect’ is a verb. But maybe we mean to make reference to a result, being the noun? As in, ‘words to that effect (result)’? Or does the statement imply (or is it infer, or allude?) that we are making reference to the ACTION (verb) of the words?). I think, going back to ‘imply’, ‘infer’ and ‘allude’, that it’s ‘imply’, because ‘infer’ is what I TAKE from a statement, imply is what is GIVEN by a statement to another. Anyway, what I basically mean is “I’m full of shit”, as those who know me will also know I constantly change my mind (like my ridiculous statements about ‘minimalism’ and only needing “one, no, make that two, no, make that three, no, make that four razors”, etc.

I hate English, but then again, if we didn’t have English, we couldn’t translate Kafka (who spoke ‘Prague German’, was fluent in Czech and schooled in German) and end up with sentences like “As Gregor Samsa one morning from agitated dreams awoke, found he himself in his bed into a monstrous vermin transformed.”

Here endeth the lesson. It’s possible I lost a lot of you somewhere early in the third paragraph, where you probably exclaimed “FFS” (but using the full words rather than the ‘hip’ acronym) and rapidly scrolled downwards....

Razor: Klas Törnblom, with Ivory scales that look like butterscotch
    Pre Shave: Proraso
    Cream: Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar
    ASB: None
After Shave: Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar
Music of the Morning: Ben Harper, ‘Both Sides of the Gun’

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

It's always interesting to know when they were made. I collect old German Vintage Medium Format cameras, and it fascinates me to think about who may have used them. It's a pity (for me) that really old razors have no tail and no heel; though I've never shaved with one I feel it would be difficult...
