Prep: Shower and hot towel soak with conditioner
Razor: 2 x 9/16th Spikes and 1 x 6/8 Timor
Hones: 4/8k Norton, Star Shaving 3" Big Daddy in Chestnut (Lynn's Circles + 50/100 each on felt/leather)
Brush: WhippedDog 24mm Silvertip
Lather: Tabac / Tabac stunk, it was thin, kinda sticky, so mid shave I switched to TOB Eton College and it was SOOO much better, at least I got to finish the second and third passes in comfort
AS: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
EdC: British Sterling
Results: I just finished honing these razors according to the Lynn Circles video. I had pretty good success with the spikes. I started with one spike and checked one cheek. I switched to Spike #2 and finished the right side neck and jawline. I switched to the Timor (which was NOT sharp) and made one left side stroke and said 'NOPE' and returned to SPike #1. #1 seemed to have the best edge, but not by much. I finished the shave splitting duty between the 2 spikes and had a good shave. NOt a great shave, not even really DFS but then again, since it was my honing job, it was FANTASTIC. I had a pretty good batch of sting from the Alum, but the Witch Hazel put the fire out quickly. I can tell by feel that my chin got scraped up pretty good, but hey, no nicks, no cuts and more importantly, no whiskers left. It really was pretty clean, just not BBS smooth. I will take these back to the hones tomorrow and see if I can improve the edges off the 8k. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I pretend I do really well!! :)

Good job Mike. Honing 3 can be tough. I would suggest going back to your 1k again and 20 circles 20 x on both sides a few times. Then repeat that on the 4k/8k

Yup. JaNorton 4K/8k only. Lol. The wosty 1/4 hollow with micro chips had me wishing for my 1K!!!!!!!!!!

Comments: A trip to the Shaving Shop before a New Year's Day dinner with the family was a pleasure. I am shave-testing this razor so I have a point of reference before diving into JaNorton, so this was a great way to get a feel for it. This was the first razor I ever honed and it is shaving quite nicely with an edge off the Norton 8k. I am loath to blunt the edge and start over, but it should be fun! Oh micro chipping. I had a Bengall doing that. It was my norton causing it. A few come along that just dont like nortons.
