Thanked: 1185Prep: 2 mile run, lukewarm shower, conditioner applied to beard area, quick touch up hone
Razor: Wm. Elliot and Company
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: VDH Deluxe
AS: Nivea Double Action Balm
Finish: English Leather Cologne
WOW! This was the final exam for this razor and I had not shaved since Thursday morning so there was plenty of stubble. It probably would have done fine without the quick touch up hone but just to ensure it would crush the final exam I gave it a quick couple laps on the stone. The results were truly spectacular! This was probably amongst my top 5 shaves ever. The plan was two passes then a baby oil gel touch up. I was very close to BBS after the first pass, did the second pass but there was nearly nothing left to cut so I never bothered with the third pass (touch up.) Of course the natural finish for such an epic shave is my Dad's favorite scent, English Leather (Here's to ya Pop!)
The older I get, the better I was

Saturday
JM Schmid & Son 6/8
Altesse Badger
Pacific Natural shave cream
Master Bay Rum
Drakkar Noir
Decent shave save for one small nick where I got careless around my jawline. The shave was a little rough so I took it to the barber hone for some touch up work. Next shave with this razor should be much smoother.

Thanked: 1262Razor: Hamburg Ring
Brush: Thater
Soap: Proraso
Scuttle: SRD
Antiseptic: Alum
SplishSplash: AquaVelva ice
Balm: CarrieM menthol
Results: BBS to 11. Rehoned this razor yesterday. Norton 4k/8k -> CrO -> a few light passes on dry japanese natural. I usually do not shave on the weekend, but I have the house to myself today and decided to be lazy. First time I have used the scuttle in quite a while. Nice with this cold weather. The proraso is a nice contrast in it. Warm when applied, but that nice menthol feel once the lather cools back down to room temp.

Pre-Shave: Hot shower Brush: Simpson Chubby 1 Razor: Flaschner 7/8 Honing Regimen: Chosera 1K - Naniwa SS 3-8-12K Strop: 40/60 Neil Miller Linen/Kanayama Cordovan Soap: Palmolive Stick After shave: Mennen Skin Bracer Results: Took David's Flaschner back to the hones last night, a few strokes on the 8K and finished on SS 12K, this edge suited the razor way better, a two pass, wonderfully close, smooth and comfortable shave. Finished with Mennen skin bracer, on ot the best aftershaves there is IMHO
My wife's cousin is visiting this weekend, he's been facinated by me shaving with a straight since we visited them last easter, and today we did a "straight shaving 101"
I lent him my Gotta, the Berkeley, La Toja stick and some Irisch Moos. First he watched me shave while I explained every single move, then I guided him through a full pass shave, he even mowed down his goatee, and just one small nick!
I must addmit I am mighty impressed, he did much better than I did the first time, and from his respones I think a new straight shaver is born
Need help or tutoring? Check out the .

Saturday Afternoon Joy Prep: Hot shower Brush: Omega Pro 49 Razor: W&B Bow 11/16 Strop: 50 episaacs 'roo Lather: Trumper's Coconut Soap AS: Dominica Bay Rum ASB: Trumper's Fragrance Free Comments: What a great shave from this smooth little Bow Razor. The edge on this is nice and mellow, though I still think I can get a little more out of it. It feels good to get back on the successful side of honing! I will be using this setup for the week, as I'm trying to get through my samples, of with the Trumper's soap is one. http://straightrazorpalace.com/begin...tml#post914023 is updated. Happy Saturday, SOTD Brothers!
