Prep: Hot Shower
Brush: HL Thater Octagonal Plexi 28mm Silvertip
Soap: Trumpers Violet
Strop: Pegasus V
Razor: Bengall
Post: Proraso Balm
Result: One of my best shaves yet! No cuts and little irritation. I love my Bengalls because they're smooth as butter. Wish this one still had the black in the etching so you could see it better but I'm guessing nothing can be done about that. Planning on rescaling this guy eventually, anybody have any ideas of what would look good with that blade design and etching? I love deep browns and deep red burl woods....or horn....or G10...i can't decide!
Happy saturday brothers

You mean like this one? I agree, very smooth shavers. I would opt for G10 black myself to nicely contrast the black engraving but brown would work too.

Prep: Hot Shower / Very Hot Water Soak /Shave Gel left on during shower / Extra Virgin Olive Oil Rub Razor: 5/8 Boker 'King Cutter', the first real straight razor I ever bought, ruined learning how to strop Hones: Full re-hone from bevel to finished edge, 1k,4/8k, 12k, Diamond, CrOx, Clean felt, leather Brush: 24mm Silvertip in American Ash Uber: Tabac AS: Alum Block + Gillette Sensitive Skin Edc: English Leather Result: I haven't used this razor in almost a year. I had pretty much ruined the edge learning to strop properly. The last time I used it prior to this, it was absolutely horrible. I decided last night to learn to do a rolling X, as this razor has a slight bow to it which had always kept me from attempting to rescue it myself. I bought it from SRD and had a cert. for a free re-hone if I wanted it, but I always had it in the back of my mind to learn to hone it properly. Today was the best shave I have had off it since I got it fresh from Lynn's hones. DFS in 2 passes.
Have a great Saturday!
Mike-- Any day I get out of bed, and the first thing out of my mouth is not a groan, that's going to be a good day --

Mid-afternoon shower 'n shave:
Pre: Hot shower
Strop: Illinois 127, 20x linen; 60x leather
Soap: Proraso/Bigelow
Brush: Unknown badger
Razor: (Brace yourselves)... Gold Dollar 200, fresh off the hones
Post: Lucky Tiger, Pinaud Clubman
The GD took a very good edge on the hones; silent slicer on the HHT. Decent shaver, actually. Not sure how long the edge will last. I probably won't shave with it often (or maybe ever) again. Might be a good training razor for my son.
Humorous footnote: I rubbed an alcohol-soaked cotton square over the blade to give it a token "sterilization" before shaving. The alcohol cleanly removed the entire "GOLD DOLLAR" brand imprint from the blade! LOL!
