Awesome shave with a Torrey Celebrated. Stropped up with Neil Miller leather and Musco lime preshave using Razorock Limited suds. A fine shave followed by Afta/AQV!

    Have a GREAT week, Friends!

    Sunday

Quite a NICE two pass (WTG, ATG) shave this morning with the De Pews. I’m really very chuffed to have been able to bring this razor this far, it’s taught me heaps, as have a couple of guys here on the forum in replies to my pleas for help. Here I sit feeling my face at 16:09 after shaving at around 10:00 after not having shaved yesterday and can confidently say it’s now ‘shave ready’. I gave it another hour or so on the hones (or ‘sharpening bricks’ as SWMBO calls them) after the shave, and haven’t yet packed the hones away; improvement is always an option. The C O Bigalow and Dominica Bay Rum rounded out the shave well.

I think tomorrow has to be with another razor, though…

I hope you all have a safe, healthy, happy week amongst those who love you...

    Razor: De Pews

    Cool 2 Razor Shave...

Hey guys.....sorry i have been away for a bit was out of town for 2 weeks in a small town in Ohio and didn't really have any type of service (they got a McDonald's 2 years ago if that gives you an idea of how small it was!!! But i returned to some WONDERFUL gifts from Glen (gssixgun) and as i told him on the phone yesterday i was sure i wasn't going to be able to wait between shaves so i may do a two razor shave today and i DID so here it is.....

    PREP:
HOT Shower and Proraso Pre/Post.....(does anyone use this as a Post? i haven't and haven't read anything about it as a Post)

    BRUSH:
Vintage TGN Re-knotted Dubl Duck 3

    SCUTTLE:
    The Old Trusty G5

    SOAP/CREAM:
Proraso RED and a small bit of SRD Sandalwood

    STROP:
NONE per Glen's note with the razors!

and here is where it gets GOOD.......

    RAZORS:
Right Side of the face got the Au Natural Filarmonica DT 13 in Pre-Ban Ivory (thanks pixelfixed for the Ivory) AND the Left Side of the face got the Wade & Butcher restore in Bone Linen Micarta...well what a DFS this was!! I would say about 95% BBS but WOW this was my first W&B shave and my first Filly shave and i can see what all this "hype" is about.....NO HYPE AT ALL...these blades live up to their name and THEN SOME! Glen put great edges on them...W&B on Select Coti and the Filly on a Shapton progression up to 30k! I think the Filly side came out a TAD beter but i am not a wedge pro yet so i think that had a lot to do it! I did feel like i may have been cheating with the awesomely heavy W&B and needed to get used to the weight and switching between that and the much lighter Filly led to a few strokes with a heavy hand with the Filly! But i think the hair RAN from my face more than was cut from it! All i have to say is these are way WAY WAAAYYY up there in the rotation and will be in my collection FOREVER!

    POST:
Tepid Water Towel, Alum Block, Cold Water Towel, Thayer's Cucumber WH, Nivea Post Shave Balm, Splash of Clubman......and a NICE pour of Maker's Mark 46

    MUSIC:
Bruno Mars Doo-Wops & Hooligans: I really like Bruno i think his music is very eclectic AND i think its great that he started out as an Elvis impersonator in his dad's show when he was like 6!

Again i CAN'T get over how great of a shave it was tonight....THANK YOU Glen amazing AMAZING work!!!

HOT Shower and Proraso Pre/Post.....(does anyone use this as a Post? i haven't and haven't read anything about it as a Post)

I have used it many times as an aftershave. I really like it and it has a very fresh feel & scent but I shave my head and find that it makes my already oily scalp super-slick (which I don't like). But that doesn't happen on my face.

JHenry, MVcrash & Baldy: congratulations on your great news!!

Omega1975, Deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Thank you, everybody, for my birthday wishes & for making me feel so welcome here. This is a great forum.

My deepest condolences to Omega1975 for his loss. My thoughts are with you.

    Sunday Afternoon Shave

    Dovo Bismarck Ironwood
    Bryce C 24mm Silvertip Ironwood
    T&H Ultimate Comfort Preshave Oil
    T&H Ultimate Comfort Cream
    T&H Ultimate Comfort ASB
    T&H Spanish Leather Cologne

A wonderful Sunday afternoon shave before family dinner. I didn't know what to expect from the Ultimate Comfort series, but it is a really nice product. Great lather, very mild scent similar to the T&H soap and the Dovo always gives a comfortable, smooth shave. I look forward to a fun week. Have a good one, SOTD brothers!

I am new to straights, but before with my DE, and even before that with my Mach 3, I would use Proraso Pre/Post both before and after. Great cooling effect that lasts even after a splash of AS. I use a very thin coat after my cold water splash and let it sink in a couple of minutes before the AS. Not sticky, just right. Great stuff!

    Tonight's routine:
    Hot Shower
    Proraso Pre/Post
    Vulfix 2234
    Speick Stick - face lather
    Dovo Special 6/8 - WTG/XTG
    Proraso Pre/Post
    Floid Amber AS

    Great Shave, good times!

I've done that, and I like it.
