Back from an Army Weekend. Great shave to start the week. Can you ever go wrong with a Mix of MDC and J street? With a Goldedge in fantastic shape? Nope! Just finished a 2 mile run and morning PT now time to relax.

The "old farts" need a lot of humor with such a boy!
LOL I am 20 YO and been wet shaving for 3 years. rarely thought of the age difference. Wet shaving bridges the gap between me and folks in their 50s when I am at a meet we talk to each other like our peers.
I have been looking into purchasing ToOBS Jermyn St. Cream, mostly because my skin is on the sensitive side. I have their Eton College scented cream which I really love, it lathers nicely and smells really great. That being said if I just use it straight it is little harsh for my taste, it gives me the sort of burning sensation that is similar to putting on an alchohol based aftershave. It isn't horrible but I'd rather not have it. Thats why I usually mix it with something else such as my Van Der Hagen Deluxe Shaving Soap. That way I get the scent without the sting.
So I am just curious as to what you think about the Jermyn St, is it pretty gentle, and what does it smell like?
I think thats is a really neat aspect about hobbies, they tend to bring everyone together regardless of age, sex, race, etc.
I saw above your avatar, it says your a musician, what instrument do you play? I am an avid bass player, and have been playing for about 7 years. It is one of my main hobbies.
No pic sorry...

Scuttle: G5
Soap: Proraso SS/ Salter Vetiver/ Glycerin Uber
Razor: Beau Brummel #18 11/16" square point

Result: Another spectacular shave with the freshly honed Brummel! The edges I am getting from the Naniwa 12k are silky smooth. An added bonus is the Proraso/Vetiver Uber, smells like fresh turned earth (Vetiver) and a "green" scent from the Proraso, and the performance is superb!

This shave started out to be razor test shave day. I should have started with one of the other razors needing a test shave. Once I started I knew I was not going to be testing any other razors today. Four days stubble gone and no irritation.

Greetings Gentlemen,
Scince I didn't post a picture of my first SOTD, I thought I'd post a picture of my second. It is essentially the same as yesterdays sans the DE89.
I am really happy with the result: a silky smooth finish, except for the few nicks I incured! I felt like I was just being a little sloppy this morning for some reason, oh well, I know my technique will improve with time.

Thayers
AV Ice Blue AS
AV Ice Balm

I scored this King for under $15, and it cleaned up beautifully. It is a round nose, with lovely translucent tortoise celluloid scales. I realized that I really like the steel and the smoothness of my other King razor, and I found this one, plus An Expert Barber for really good prices. I honed this's King Midas on my Norton 4/8 and Stropped it, and it's just as smooth as the older Karbon King that I have.
Like other members heRe, I am beginning to really appreciate the older US made razors.
I also picked up a Shumate that I honed last night that I will try tomorrow.

Thank you, I really enjoy it. I think it is one if the coolest looking vintage Gillettes, although I am quite partial to the Executive's looks. I loved the spiraled knurled barrel.
Thanks for the warning, I have heard other people say the same thing so I do make sure the doors are nice and tight. So far I haven't had any issues.

Prep: Hot Shower / Barbasol Lather soak with Hot Towel / Extra Virgin Olive Oil Rub 1st pass, Rise baby face rub for 2nd pass. Razor: 6/8 Genco Henry's XX fresh from the Stones Hones: Bevel 1k, Pyramid 4/8k, 75 laps Cnat with slurry, 5 Diamond, 10 CrOx, 25 Clean felt, 100 Horsehide, 100 Chestnut Brush: 24mm Silvertip in Honey Locust Uber: Sir Irisch Moos AS: Alum Block + OBR Sandalwood Edc: OBR Original Cologne Result: This razor was one of my best restorations ever, an EBay rescue that Logistics honed for me at the Denver meetup last July. Since then I managed to pretty well roll the edge in my stropping learning days, so it hadn't seen a lot of use for the last 6-8 months. Now that I am developing some honing skills (not developed, developing!! LOL) I thought I would take a chance on honing up one of my more 'precious' razors. She was shaving heaven. I managed to do a decent job honing her, and the edge was quite comfortable and smooth. Amazingly, no irritation or nicks, weepers or bleeders. Now that's a success in my book!! I love the OBR in all it's flavors, as does SWMBO.

Well the trip to Sydney Children's Hospital was a little anti-climactic.
The conversation we had with the doctors a few weeks ago was that Jack would be finishing his Chemo on Monday night, having a bone marrow test on Tuesday and that would be the end of his treatment.
When we saw the professor on Tuesday he decided to continue the Chemo for another 8 weeks. Its not a big deal, and I know its in his best interest, but the whole family was mentally prepared to be finished with the Chemo yesterday, we even had celebrations planned for when we arrived home today.
Plus being back in the kids cancer ward was MUCH harder than I expected. Seeing all the new faces, the next generation of kids and their families going down that road was awful, I was fighting tears the whole time.
Sorry to sound so bummed guys, Its just I've been putting on a brave face and a positive attitude for 2 years and 2 days, and some days this shit just gets to you.
Talk to me on Friday after we get the all clear on the bone marrow test and I'm sure I'll be much happier.
...Anyway a quality shave helped improve my mood.
I went with some old friends. The Proraso was my first good soap, the Gotta was one of my first razors, the Illinois my first strop.
All ingredients from the pre-Leukemia days. I found some comfort in that.
3 great passes for a fantastic BBS
