PREP: Hot Shower
RAZOR: Garibaldi full hollow
BRUSH: Simpson Chubby 2
CREAM: Acqua di Parma
ASTRINGENT: Thayers
ASB: Razorockk Aftershave wax
EDT: Carlo Corinto Vetyver
RESULTS: FANTASTIC WAY TO START THE MORNING.
Well I haven't had a chance to use a real straight in a long time, been mostly using DE's, but I managed to finish this one and have a shave with it. Ahhhh it felt great to use a straight again, it mowed down my 1 day growth with ease, and left no signs of irritation. Also it was my 2nd time using my ADP and I finally nailed down the water ratio, and was rewarded with fantastic lather. One for the books :)
GENTS HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY!!!!

Have you ever had a Shaving cream and soap you wanted to love soooooo bad but just couldn't? Well EJ Sea Buckhorn is that for me. I just love this scent! Period. But the lather? Not so much. It works but it just leaves me felling like it's a slimy glop. Now if Tobs or T&H or DRH or even castle forbes came out with it and I would be waving this scent from the rooftops like Jose!!!!!(inside joke:w)
Yes I had a great 2 pass with touch ups shave. Yes I am CFS. Maybe I'm being to hard on EJ. Like the beautiful girl everyone is telling you is hot but you're like, Nyah......
High class problems I know. The Army Navy was superb. Off to help out a friend. Hav a great day all.

I have had the same issue with EJ's Sandalwood Cream, although mine is the one in the plastic tub. I like the scent but I just can't get it to lather up correctly. Usually I feel like it isn't wet enough but then when I add a little water it just falls apart. Some of my issue might stem from my cheap brush though too. I'm not sure.

Just back from a concert with Mitch Walking Elk.
Nice songs from a native American and he also presented his book:
"There will be no surrender"
Prep: Hot Shower, Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil Soap
Strop: Dovo Russian 2"
Brush: Vilfix badger
Soap/Cream: G.F.T. (Violet)
Razor: Genco Red Cross 5/8"
Aftershave: Floid

Note: I never meet a Genco I didnt love and this Red Cross was no exception. Great shaver!!!
Nice job Tom once again!!!
Prep: Hot Shower / Barbasol Lather soak with Hot Towel / Extra Virgin Olive Oil Rub / Rise Baby Face Gel on 2nd pass Razor: 5/8 Shapleigh "Shapleigh Barber's" Freshly restored, scaled and honed Hones: Pyramid 4/8k, 150 laps Cnat with slurry, 5 Diamond, 10 CrOx, 100 felt, 100 Horsehide, 100 Chestnut Brush: 24mm Silvertip in American Ash Uber: Tabac + 4 drops Glycerine - I finally got the tabac water ratio right and got some decent lather. Usually it is too thin for my tastes. I love the smell, but this is the first time it lathered up very nicely. I think I like it!! AS: Alum Block + OBR Limes & Peppercorns Edc: Cuba "Gold" Result: A quicky polish, disinfected, a new set of scales (peened, not microfasteners this time) and a hone job, then a shave. All in the same morning! Of course the shave had to wait until afternoon, but still :) . The shave was a good one, not super great, but very passable and pleasurable. I think a few more passes on the CNat might help. I may go back to the 8k and polish it there some more, I'm not sure. I may leave it alone and just strop it a bunch more. It has a slight smile that was giving me trouble at first, but it had a bevel already so I just did the pyramid starting from the 4k. No irritation but some slight burn from the alum and of course, the OBR settles things right down. The Cuba Gold is becoming one of my favorites, and SWMBO doesn't disagree!!

Shave #8 since honing the GD, still shaving well but the the freshly honed feeling has gone. My best razors will tend to reach this point after about shave #10/12 this one isn't vastly different from my average razors but its clear that it will require a little more attention than some. I would typically give it some attention on a Crox Strop next.
BBS shave yesterday + oversleeping today = No shave today.:(

Hi Grant,
I considered posting this as a PM, but decided not to. I really feel for you. When Bailey was diagnosed last April there was nothing more important that his health, nothing in life had any importance apart from his health any more; I got no joy from anything. I was utterly depressed. It's normal I guess to re-consider priorities. However, the problem was that because I was so focussed on Bailey, and because everything to do with him was utterly depressing, my whole life became obsessed with just all that shit, with nothing nice or happy in it. We 'only' went through it for 9 months. He finished chemo in January. I completely understand how continuing with that and all it means, all the side effects and everything, all the anguish etc would make you feel. I completely get the scenario around the 'new' parents and kids lined up on the waiting room chairs makes you feel. You feel like when you were told Santa doesn't exist. A bright and shiny bubble somewhere in your heart bursts, and it leaves a big black hole in its place. Everything feels bad, nothing feels good. Maybe if you haven't already you should just break down and weep, it's OK to do that, you don't have to put on a brave face or show a positive attitude, what you're going through sucks and it's OK to show others it sucks and that you DON'T feel strong. My thoughts are with you, you have certainly helped me get through but I've now got an eternal feeling of impending doom, but that HAS made me value my years, months, days, seconds or whatever I have left on this earth with those I love.
PM me any time if you need someone to talk to...
Carl
