Another shave with the De Pews this morning, even though I’d shaved last night. I think the De Pews needs a trip to the hones. I WAS considering sending it out to be honed, but I need to persevere, I think. This razor has some honing issues, and I’m not sure I’m getting the best out of it. If I could stand there and WATCH an expert hone it, and learn, I’d get someone to show me, but in the meantime I’ll keep at it.
Hope you all had a good weekend and will have a nice week…

Thanked: 1072Strop: Osgar Vintage Shell Horse
Brush: Frank's Fine Badger
Soap: MWF
Razor: Invicta Coronet 6/8 (Sheffield)
Astringent: Thayer's Witch Hazel
Balm: Nivea Replenishing
A/S: Wahl Bay rum
I was sporting 3-4 days of growth on my face tonight so I needed a razor that was up to the task.
I usually like wedges for such a task but decided on the Invicta tonight.
A fantastic 3 pass BBS was the result. An awesome way to begin relaxing on a Sunday night.
Have a great week gentlemen and thanks for the great posts and pics.
We already have some absolutely stunning razors on display this week.

Shave prep: Face wash
Brush: Omega boar
Soap: Sensual Indulgences Juniper Sage
Scuttle: Robert Becker extra large
Razor: C. V. Heljestrand, 3/8 hollow
Strop: nun2sharp's hanging leather strop
After Shave Splash: Provence home made splash
Aftercare: A pot of Lapsang and SRP.
Notes: Fun little razor this, gifted from Birnando. Just finished rescaling it in cocobolo with a bone wedge and gave it a spin on my schwedenstein. Smooth, sharp, light and precise, and delivers a shave as fine as any helje. The Provence splash is a great finish, picking up the herbal theme.
Edit: Just for laughs I weighed this razor, it is 22 grams / 0.78 oz, with scales, brass bolsters and all. That's pretty nimbleLast edited by str8fencer; 05-13-2012 at 11:35 AM. Reason: typo
