Tom got me thinking about the family guns thing. Here is my First Pistola from Dad when I was 5 years old. A ruger mark 1. A lowly 22. A few years ago I duracoated it as while on deployments some "family" let it rust up. Turned out well. I think he would love it if he was around still. One of my two fave firearms that are family. The other is my Grandfathers 1892 lever action in 32 winchester special.
Oh the shave? Well this was also my first Str8. decided it fit well with the theme. Good 3 pass post work/gym shave.
Max this was a great redo thread!!!!(we did do this a couple years ago yes?)

I've always considered books and reading as more than a hobby. I'm always reading a book or three.
Currently I'm reading:

My Father, the Captain: My Life With Jacques Cousteau by Jean-Michel Cousteau
Iberia by James A. Michener
Now you're just showing off, I only know NIN when it comes to industrial rock, but in regards to heavy stuff some SOAD is always good...Also Rammstein's Reise, Reise is always good workout music, esp if you try not to think about the lyrics...
Cheer up! Look on the bright side! At least you're young enough to have a girlfriend...
Congrats on the anniversary shave!
Nice photo taken with the Rolleiflex. I reckon the lens is probably pretty much the same as on my Rolleicord. ONE day I'll give developing a go, after all, otherwise it's like needed to have someone hone your razor for you... :-)
So, you guys with the guns don't watch this; it might make you angry.
I've loved this video for what seems like YEARS.
A bit of NIN...
Nine Inch Nails - March Of The Pigs (Unclean Live) - YouTube
Thank you Carl.
The lens on your Rolleicord is similar, but not as sharp shooting wide open. The Rolleicords were the economy model, but in reality they are almost just as good. I had one a few years back and it was awesome. And yes, you need to develop yourself, it's really easy. :)

After taking my blades over a newly aquired 3" paddle strop, the edges have never been smoother. Between that and getting a better handle on the Fat, the Dovo cleared up a three day beard with one pass and touch ups. Best part about the recent activities post paddle is that threre's rarely been any irritation, razor burn or AS Face Fire.
So I got that going for me...

Like many of us, razor restoration is a passion of mine.
I've finally gone down the road of making a couple of my own custom razors.
These two are made from a Nicholson file, and are only half done at the moment. As I dont have a lot of spare time on my hands lately, its taken months to get them to this point. So dont expect them to be finished any time soon.

A great 2 pass shave tonight with the Invicta, my first razor BTW.
Thanks for the great posts and pics fellas, I'm loving the themed week

Carl, Rammstein certainly fits in that conversation as well. And unless I'm missing something implied in German, the lyrics aren't so bad, are they? At least on that song!

Well, I've been away for a while and for a good reason too, I've had a shaving bud over for a couple of days (all the way form Australia, our own Frankenstein :)). He happens to be a very gifted violin player as well and I got the rare treat of shaving to classical music this weekend :D. Today's pic has a small hobby of mine included, even though no longer an "active" one, but I've got more than a few crystal stones from India at home.

I see, I was thinking of the title track. Yeah, they're good for odd lyrics from time to time. Speaking of odd German lyrics, have you listen to Laibach?

I used to play bass guitar. I was even lucky enough to own a Carl Thompson. I sold it awhile back when I went into the hospital. Anyway, got sick of lugging around amplifiers and playing in two bit cover bands. Now, I am content with jamming on my Ukelele.

Another of my ever growing hobbies is collecting cufflinks. At one time I had around 200 pairs and sold all off but 1pair, believing that my collecting had run it's course. Then I became a member here at SRP and saw the thread on cufflinks. The collecting bug struck again. I'm now back up to 30 pairs and growing. The Anson cufflinks in the front left of the picture are the ones that I kept when I sold the others. The other ones pictured are, in the front right, Lamode Sterling cufflinks/tiebar and in the back are Foster rhodium plated silver links and tack.

Wednesday
Well, well, well. Who would have thought it would come to this; my one year anniversary shave. When Blix posted his the other night I had to try really hard not to blurt out excitedly “it’s mine tomorrow!”.
I’m so happy I stumbled across this art, I think via The Art of Manliness page, and I think I got on to THAT site by looking up cuff links or bow ties or something (I re-thought the bow tie thing). I’m also so glad I joined this forum and not ‘the other’, not that there’s anything wrong with ‘the other’, it’s just that I’ve looked at it and like the layout and ‘feel’ of this one better.
I’d also like to sincerely thank everyone for making me feel so welcome and being so genuinely helpful and downright nice and putting up with my outlandish comments and tendency to go off topic. I’d also like to thank those who I’ve bought razors from. I have at times considered selling one or two, but can’t bring myself to do so, as they have a special meaning. I think it’s a very real indication of the good nature of the guys here when I consider that each of the razors I purchased came with an bonus gift.
Below I’ve included one of my first posts (not the first, the first was when I was still awaiting my razor), but the one posted on the night of the first shave. I’ve also included the link. It’s actually quite hilarious, I think maybe I was a little bit manic or something…
The photo is a recycled one from a few months ago, just showing my collection, clearly it's not what I used today; I'm not THAT smitten...
Go well, my friends, stay well...
The Post of my First Shave..., it was titled 'I'm SCARED!'
First razor arrived today (Burrell Top Flight). I was a bit worried before, but NOW!!!
This is stupidly sharp, I'm not sure I can put it anywhere near my face, I think I'll just lock it away and forget I even considered I could do something so stupid. One guy here shaved his whole face TWICE first time!!!
I think I'll just look at it and polish it (very carefully)...
COOOOL looking razor though, about 55 bucks, seems VERY sharp (as you might infer from my remarks above). Might buy another from that guy...to polish and look at...

No, these days it's just Rammstein for the workouts only (or System of a Down or even Pearl Jam) but at the moment it's almost always The Brian Jonestown Massacre; generally every day on the way to work...
Have you heard Eddie Vedder's Ukelele album? It's really cool...
They're addictive, aren't they? I wear them every day at work. I wear only vintage ones...I think I've got 15 pairs or something...
I love standing before my freshly ironed shirt at night and thinking "Now, what cuff links shall I wear tomorrow..."
Nice bowl!
Good morning to you too! I've tried a dip pen but didn't have any luck. I should keep trying...
