This was and is my mother of hobbies hobby - cigars :D. This is a box of H. Upmann cigars made for the Spanish Club Epicure and these became one of the most sought after cigars in modern times (not counting Cuban Dunhills and such, but from the last 25 years or so).

Happy one year at SRP Carl! :D You've done a fantastic trip, that we all have been following with flabergasted minds, erhh, I mean with eagerness and joy :D
Mikael, what about the Swedish girls...isn't it your hobby too?
No Tom, it's a life style and as such it doesn't qualify as a hobby. I'm really sorry, but that was the rules. You've got to talk with Max about it, my hands are tied. :(
I'm sure, Max likes the Swedish girls too :)

First off, congrats on the one year anniversary of straight shaving. As far as the cufflinks go, they are quite addictive. It's a very easy hobby to get into as the prices on vintage cufflinks are relatively cheap. Plus there's nothing quite like standing there in the mirror after a nice straight shave and putting a nice pair of vintage links on a well fit double cuff shirt. Throw in pipe and a couple fingers of scotch and it really makes you feel like a man.
Well I haven't enough time lately to post my SOTD here, but I can't miss such great thread!

It was my first attempt to stop on stropping board which I purchased from classicedge, it was not bad but I think that I need tome to get accustomed to it.
As for my hobby I'm some kind of active young guy, I like squash, hockey, diving, wind-surfing, wake-boarding, snowboarding.... and I just haven't enough time to all my hobbies:)

Being 15 minutes past my usual departure from home to "beat" traffic in the area (the worst in the US), pics elude me today. As a result of said traffic, another hobby of mine is cigars. I have a rather expansive collection from all over the world, including a nice stash of Cubans gifted to me from a friend with connections. If range time with the guns is not enough to de-stress, a good cigar on the patio is more than enough.

Tattoos is probably the "hobby" I have spent most time and money on the last 18 years, I got my first one when I was 15 and since then it has become a lot of hours under the needle, always an ongoing project :)
I've used the same tattoo artist the last fifteen years, he has done all my tat's except for the viking on my back and my kid's birthdates on my forearm which was done by other artists in the same studio.

Hi, Gentlemen! Tonight's my first SOTD post, so I thought I'd honor Glen's restoration of my Thistle Cutlery Co. 11/16 by displaying her atop my namesake coffee machine, a Kees van der Westen Speedster. This machine does wonders with coffee and looks like sex on my kitchen counter. I can't think of a better way to start each day. :D
Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Thäter 4125/2
Strop: SRDP1
Razor: Tiger G10 Thistle
Cream: AoS Ocean Kelp
AS: Prospector Co. Peary & Henson
Results: Outstanding shave!

Speedster,
Jeeezus! That is one gorgeous coffee machine. How's the coffee?
BTW...That razor looks pretty nice too.
The machine makes outstanding coffee; Kees is more than just an artist. The result is without peer when paired with a proper conical grinder.
Unfortunately, SWMBO had to agree to a 2-burner stove, as my coffee grinder took over half the space customarily used to cook. The grinder stands 21.5" tall with the mini hopper (the stock one hold 5 lbs of beans). :o
crazy day so taking a stock photo of the Cmon since it was the razor today, Attachment 98782Attachment 98783Attachment 98781and some old snowboarding pics...

Yes, I'm into cufflinks too. This pair is perfect for an afternoon / evening on the range with my 1911.
Thursday
Yesterday’s discussion about cufflinks prompted me to post a SOTD with COTD (Cufflinks of The Day).
On the way home from work I saw two deer in the forest near the reservoir called ‘Chain of Ponds’, and an echidna crossing the road near my place. The deer are introduced, of course, but not the echidna. If you don’t know what an echidna is, Google it. They’re similar to a hedgehog, I gather, though I’ve never seen a hedgehog. They’re a mammal that lays eggs, a monotreme, and they suckle their young. And I love the way they walk.
The shave was excellent. I tackled each hair with dexterity and finesse. I think it does take some skill to tackle each hair against the grain on the neck below the chin, esp when the pattern varies.
I think as nice as the shave was I need a honing party on the W/E, using just the Shapton 16k, I think….You're all invited...

Ha! We've covered a few topics along the way... And it HAS been a very happy year here.
You do realise my content is heavily edited? You should see the unedited version...,
Six, but one is still allegedly being restored by my brother. I've been steady at that for a few months now, firstly because I branched in to soaps and creams, and then in to after shaves. I've taken a side street in to natural soaps for a bit, and then I really need to get that shaving stand. After that, depending on how the alleged restoring goes I'll get a 6/8 full hollow or MAYBE a big wedge. I've decided against a kamisori. Then I may get in to antique French white cotton shirts (for the weekends in summer, you know, when taking tea (beer) on the lawn (front veranda) they seem quite affordable (easy to lie about the price to SWMBO to)....
Prep Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet Soap
Razor Vintage Towa Japanese 6/8
Brush Simpson Chubby 1
Shaving Cream Vulfix Persian Musk
Alum & Witch Hazel
L'Occitane Baux Balm
Penhaligon's Castile EDT
Jamie.
Because i have been waiting on this razor for a few days, i decided not to shave so i had a good amount of beard to test this NOS Japanese razor out, well she arrived yesterday, i honed and stropped the razor yesterday, well she certainly delivered today a two pass super smooth shave as i expected to be honest, my expectations of anything Japanese that have a sharp edge as always been high and this one proved no exception, another fine blade from Japan.

I've spent some time in Sweden. I can assure you there is much to like about Swedish women. It seemed to me they were all tall blondes.......What is not to like?
I think we were all guilty of this one.
Really nice artwork you have there. My only question is if that is you in the picture, what do you actually shave?
Welcome to the club. I have to say that I don't see the "sex on the kitchen counter" portion of your comments. Not that I have done or seen sex on the counter mind you.:angel:

Another of my hobbies, taking photos. It's pretty much limited to razor pics and photos of the family though.
To be honest I know nothing about real photography.
All my photos are taken with this $100 point and shoot camera. I'd love to learn more about the technical side if photography and get myself a better camera. One day...
Loving the themed week boys, keep 'em coming.

That's a great looking decoy DFriedl, i was watching American Pickers the other night on the national geographic channel and was shocked how much those vintage decoys ducks can sell for thousands of dollars.

Finally got around to testing some of the 3M lapping Film out on a couple of razors,,,
Results:
The Wacker :rock:
The W&B :td
Bears more testing :)
The Shave:
Prep = Multiple Steaming Towels
Shave Cream = Devon & Spencer Sage
Brush = Restored Solid Brass 22mm Silvertip
Razor = Wacker
Aftershave = Cool Water
ASB = Cool Water
Incredible shave from the Wacker razor honed on 5-3-1µm 3M AlOx and stropped in on .1 CBN followed by 50/100 Linen & Leather
A W&B Heavy grind however was just the opposite, the edge was way to harsh to shave with..
