Thanked: 485I find pine can coat the flue with pine tar; which can catch fire (apparently). However, it's always nice to have a bird fly into the flue each year, as they clean it out by flapping around (a positive from a negative I say). :-)
Ha! I was wondering how long it'd take you to post a SOTD post, Parker!Last edited by carlmaloschneider; 07-17-2012 at 07:50 AM.

Thanked: 485Tuesday
Nice shave with the De Pews this morning (again). Normally I do rotate my razors, as most of you do; but using this even a couple of days in a row has made me love it all the more. If I get time I’ll do 5 laps on the Shapton 16k tonight; just to try and tweak the edge a bit more. I got the Body Shop cream to lather like a rabid dog just by looking at it, as is its way.
The stropping was performed as precisely as a karate kata; it was a delight to behold.
I guess that may be an appeal of a set of seven matched razors; the fact that different razors ‘act’ differently and matched act the same. Stropping one is not that same as stropping the other in regards to un-matched razors; esp when the styles may vary significantly.
Trepidatious is the mood. Results of Bailey’s (my grandson’s) MRI scan are due tomorrow. Ten years of an MRI every three months equates to 30 trepitatious moods for the future. An operation for him on Friday, too, on his arm again. We’re not counting operations any more. Anyway, I should remember these well said words, “But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?”
I couldn’t fully appreciate that early morning golden light on that stand of young sapling trees near the pond down the road if there were no dark night, could I? I've found those words helpful in the past to muse on. I wonder sometimes why some people think their lives should be all peaches and cream. I sort of think, look around you, why do you think you're more deserving than everyone else?

C'est magnifique! I feel like French royalty after a shave like that. And the lavender in the Rancé just keeps the feeling going! A great way to start the day!
PS - Best of luck for Bailey! He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.
