Thumbs up Sun September 23rd - Sat September 29th

    Location: 36° 0'5"N - 115° 15' 21"W
    Razor: Wade and Butcher
    Brush: SRP 2011 LE
    Cream: GFT Sandalwood
    Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel
ASB: AOS Sandalwood + 2 drops of Sandal
    EDC: Eliz@beth Arden Sandalwood
Size doesn't always matter. This small sized W&B performs just like his brothers. Mowed away those whiskers effortlessly. As you probably already noticed, Sandalwood was on the menu for today's SOTD. The invigorating scent is still lingering around the house. Love it.

Enjoy the last week of September!

    Great shaves to-day Men!
An awesome shave with an old Greaves. The experience of the "alto" song of ancient crucible cast steel, reground concave long ago by a forgotten craftsman, diminishing into complete, utter silence by the third pass.
An amazing period-perfect all-natural velvety edge combined with the luxury and wonderful scent of the cherished Limited will not be soon forgotten. The results are amazing!
I wish you all to have a shave such as this!

Have a week filled with Profound Blessings, All!

A nice shave, though I think I left a bit of a harsh edge on this blade when I touched it up on the balsa strop, as I definitely got some burn. Anyway, it's fading already and a nice walk in the cool afternoon air should help. Have a great week, SOTD Brothers!

Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?

    Unhappy First Cold Water Shave

Pre-Shave: Anthony Logistics For Men Unscented
Shave Cream: Anthony Logistics For Men Unscented
Razor: Communist China's Own Weishi Chrome
    Blade: unmarked MartyMart (first use)
    After Shave: Stephan's Alpine Menthol

It was the chilliest morning in over two weeks, or at least it felt like it. The two and a half bananas were helping my body fight the cold (the third was too unripe and firm, and while very firm bananas certainly have their uses digestion isn't one of them) but a belly full of animal flesh would have been better. I broke out the old kit of Anthony Logistics for Men Unscented, Weishi Chrome DE and an unmarked overpriced blade from Walgreens/Walmart/Kmart/Martymart. At this time of year the water doesn't run warm, at least not for the time I was in the public park. Two ungrateful "normals" returned items to the library part of the rec-center in this bastion of Hell I use as my shaving spot, unaware of the horrific monstrous presence that is I. A lone van drove into the parking area, stopped and gave its occupant a moment of privacy, except for me of course (and I'd never tell).

The water was cold, but not as cold as my heart so I could take it. The shave was okay, I just wanted to get it over with. I managed to wait over five minutes with that wet cream chilling my face before the shave. Rinsing it off was even worse, because of how cold it made my hands. I can honestly say the menthol of the aftershave was still enjoyable, and the familiar scent was comforting, marking the end of my suffering. The cold water shave worked, I didn't have any irritation or problem with goose-pimples. Good gear makes a difference.

    Prep: Hot shower
    Brush: Neep
Razor: Heljestrand M K no 7 in custom horn scales w silver inlays (cheers Neil!)
    Soap: Tabac
AS: Old Spice Musk, Shulton formula
    Strops: Neil Miller
    Result: Very, very clean

Love the Tabac lather - classic, cheap and excellent slip + cushion and combined with the Helje it gave a fantastic shave

    Prep: Hot Shower
    Pre-shave: Proraso Pre/Post Shave
    Soap: Proraso Green
    Brush: Panchetta 30 mm silver-tip
    Scuttle: SWK XL
Razor: W&B "Fine India Steel" -- c.a. 1850 smiling blade ("Maxterpiece")
    Post-shave: Dickenson's Witch Hazel

I LOVE this vintage W&B beautifully restored by Max Sprecher. It has a subtle smiling blade and is a real pleasure to use. I needed a little "pick me up" this early and the combo of the Proraso and the W&B did the trick!

    Have a great week everyone.
