Should have been a simple, quick shave. Got impatient, now I have two cuts...

Thanks, Carl! I really like the MNS Pine & Cedar. The performance is like his other soaps - top notch. The fragrance on this one is very Walt Whitman. I can picture myself taking a road less traveled through the woods. As I come to a fork in the road, staring at a tall evergreen tree, I take a deep breath, inhaling the woody/resinous scent of the needles that have fallen to the ground and begun to release a sweetness as they decompose, while I contemplate whether it is better to left or right. With the scent of the trees in my nose, I choose the path that appears less trodden down because the scent will be all the sweeter as I wander...

Hmmm. I was thinking more Atticus Finch. A little sweaty; but noble and strong. Grass stains on the knees, and 'knees' in the trousers; but a clean shirt, and a clean collar. Driving, head forward, through the undergrowth. Arms crossed across strong badger chest. Strong thighs forcing strong body onwards like a wedge; like a renaissance Roman God. Clouds, dashing for cover in the black sky hide amongst the moon; the light satisfying yet untrue, grim, a little sodden. Yet there are bright white bits that worry, annoy; suggest things...

Been busy last week and weekend with a few projects. I rescaled the Worldmaster in Blood red acrylic with the pattern taken from the original scales. I had tried to rescale this blade in G10, but the material was to thick and resulted in a rather clunky unbalanced piece of work...now it is back to it's former glory and what a smooth glorious shave. Oh yeah, a friend at work moved into a new house and there was an old wood lathe in the basement. He didn't need it, so he gave it to me. Never used one before, but I have used a metal lathe so I think I can figure out the basics. The handle behind the razor is my unfinished first attempt.

Thank you, it's good to be back. Bill has really got me started now with the Walt Whitman thing. I'm feeling very muse inspired tonight :-)

A little Walt Whitman, by Carl:

    Show me your best,
Show me your creams and soaps and adulations,
Show me your soft brushes kissing faces,
Show me the nation's young steel makers and wine makers and all the strong,
Show me the houses filled with scents and feelings,
Show me all the houses of the voluptuous wine serpents,
    The scuttles full to overflowing,
    And the keen, sharp edge.
