Thanked: 154Greetings, Gents
Friday morning:
Dovo #41 with Pearlex scales, stropped on Illinois 361 leather
Reckessly face-lathered AoS unscented cream with AoS badger brush
AoS unscented aftershave balm
Kona coffee
I generally get water and lather everywhere when I shave. All over the counter, the razor, the mirror, the dog... This time, though I exceeded my slovenly ways by plopping a big dollop of lather right on top of a full cup of coffee. In my best 1960s style hippie whine I uttered an "Awww - man! What a bummer!" I then scooped out the offending iceberg, took another sip and kept on shaving.
Have a wonderful weekend, guys.
Jeff

Hot shower prep
Soap: Nivea Shave Cream ( German )
Mug: Soup Cup
Brush: Home made
Razor: Sendyk’s “Special” Solingen
Aftershock: none needed
Splash: Royall “Vetiver”
Today: Sunny and rather mild with a lot to get done before tomorrow when it won’t be! The shave: Gentlemen, this was a two pass shave to be proud of. I touched up the razor on an old hone, dry. A hundred laps on Water Buffalo leather and it gave a no pull shave! Another razor that has more than paid back the price of restoring it! BBS in two and a touch. The Nivea was a good choice after the evolutionary step of using the Darwin...and surviving!
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quickerer!

Thanked: 1185I know, right. I was tempted to attach the famous Jimmy Swaggart "I have sinned!" video. In fact here it is:

Thanked: 485Thank you, it's a De Pews. There's a Joseph Rodger I believe which is very similar in style. The De Pews were marketed as 'The Perfect Razor' and actually patented. It's a small razor, and difficult to strop, it was also a bastard to hone having a warped blade and multiple bevels when I got it. Many times I almost sent it to be honed but resisted the urge to take the easy way out. I think the scales are original and horn. I forced a patina on it with some vinegar. The patant (pdf) is attached
