Thanked: 3228Pre - Alum block
Strop - 3 inch bridle leather/hard felt
Razor - W&B almost wedge with Fat Boy assist/save
Brush - Vulfix 660 med super silver tip
Soap - Arko in a bowl
Post - Alum block followed with Thayers witch hazel
Well, it's official, I give up on the W&B near wedge. Not worth the agro playing with honing it on the limited skill set I have. I am thinking letter opener, maybe. Hope your shave goes better than mine did.

Wedges are notoriously hard to hone. These old razors were all hand made and not one was the same as the next. It takes careful inspection of the blade and secure taping of the spine to get the edge to flatness well enough for a good bevel and edge. Tell me about it! I've spent (intermittently) literally weeks on perfecting the edge on my GB. Its spine even varies in thickness across the whole length, so I have to use several different sized layers of tape to make it flat enough on the hone. I worked it out in the end and have a great shaver now. Don't give up, that's the motto.

Hot shower prep
Soap: Tet-A-Tet (Russ)
Mug: soup
Brush: Generic boar
Razor: Iskra D.E. (Russ)
Blades: Feather stainless / Gillette stainless
Aftershock: none
Splash: Don Juan (Russ)
Today: Bright, a bit dreary as the sun is behind scudding clouds. The Shave: The Tet-A-Tet is great as both a nice lather and good protection to my face. The splash is very earthy and a good match to my body chemistry,
The ISKRA Razor. I had to try one!! I started the shave with a Feather Blade and the razor allowed it to flex; that is not something I want against my face! I then switched to a Gillette stainless which is stiffer. That improved the shave a lot. This is a razor which is to be used with no pressure!!!! It seemed to me to be aggressive without the needed control. The blade corners are a bit exposed and I was not sure whether it was the sharp corners of the razor head or the blade which gave me pause many times. It would be a razor waaayyyy down on my rotation!
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

A welcome distraction from the events going on in my parents' house this shave was. Since Friday I'm here and I'm supporting them in any way I can and I find that "just being around" at this point is actually the best way to go. The polar bear is my friend "Bud" who helps me stay sane... The W&B surely still performs, but the edge needs a small trip to the coti. It will get it once I get back home. For now it's shuteye's for me, as I'm pretty exhausted from the emotions.
