I'm an idiot I was wondering why there was so much pulling with the razors I was honing for the giveaway and I just realized the problem. I'd always strop them the night before... So this morning I stropped just before shaving, and ofcourse they both shaved comfortably, without any issues. Now all I have to do is hone one more piece and they can go to Lynn

finally a sharp shave
shower and hot towel prep
new Highlander soap from Colleen & TGQ (AMAZING)
new "The Western Razor" from joshearl
vulfix super badger brush
The razor from joshearl is amazing sharp, now I know what it feels like to use a sharp straight razor. Tonight's was the best shave yet. I might not be a newbie much longer

Wed
Muhle silvertip
TM RL strop
TGQ Provence Lavender cream
Hess 5/8 wedge
AOS Sandalwood Balm
LeLabo Patchouli
This cream is hands down the best I've tried. Outstanding!
Today I tried going against the grain above my lip for the first time. Just a little scary. I came away with a bit of burn, but I'll try to practice this a couple times a week. Does anyone else have problems with this pass?

Thanked: 346I used to do two passes on my upper lip, the first with the grain then a second against the grain, but discovered that I got the same level of closeness by doing two sideways passes in opposite directions, from the side in then from the center out. The same technique on my chin finally solved that area as well.

I found sideways passes on the chin to be essential but the upper lip ones got a bit dangerous (a few nicks convinced me not to go that way any more lol).
