Tell me about it. I came to the point where I'm complaining about perfectly smooth and iritation-free shves because I felt a bit more pulling than I would have liked

That may have been me. Sheffields have been really hit-or-miss with the chrome oxide, sometimes it improves the edge over the boron carbide, and sometimes it hurts it. I don't know if other regions used cast steel, but that may be the reason. The one sheffield I've got that really loves it is also the one I'm pretty sure is the oldest.

But it's worth trying anyway, if it doesn't work you can fix it on a 8k or 15k hone in a matter of minutes.

Yes, Michael - it was you, of course. I was not sure if you were OK with me using your name.

    Hot towel
    Shavemac 501
    Vermont Country Store shave soap
    Healthy dab of Palmolive cream
    5/8 Henckels IV grind, shoulderless
    Alum block
    JAKO A/S splash

This soap was a Christmas gift and I wouldn't recommend it, but it does alright with a boost from Palmolive.
