Test run
Today was more of a test run. I'm out of town and packed a few razor supplies (a boar hair brush is my traveling brush, unfortunately) and I have a yellow coticule with me as well as my Naniwa 12k. I had my first successful honing yesterday, and wanted to see if I could get the edge even better. So, here are the weapons I used -
Wade and Butcher - honed by Glen
BJ Eyre Challenge Razor - honed by yours truly
Prep - hot shower followed by AOS Sandwalwood oil
Creme - TOBS Sandalwood
Brush - cheap boar hair
Damage control - alum block with Nivea + AOS lavender lotion
I shaved my neck with both razors to see if I could put an effective edge on a razor. I was very pleased to see/feel that the razor I honed wasn't giving me any pulling and cut very close to the skin. Mind you, I certainly wouldn't compare myself to being able to put an edge on a razor the way Glen can. That aside, I am 100% satisfied with the job I did. I had a great shave by two really old razorsJimmyHAD:My wife told me if I bought another razor she would leave me ........ and I miss her sometimes......

Today was very interesting. I had to take my brother to the ER because he put a 22 cm laceration across his back. He passed out in the shower and cut it on something. He woke me up to ask for help as he turned around I about pooped my pants when I saw what happened. Anyway, a nice little shave to kick off my one thousandth post. From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place
