iz,
The Edwin Jagger is a good choice: a well made razor with impeccable fit and finish. Here is a link to my interview with Neal Jagger that might interest you.

Thanked: 25EJ89 was my first, followed by a Parker 22R and 24C. The TTO was OK, but the 24C is my favorite razor. It's an open comb, but very mild and gives me excellent shaves!

Thanked: 23I have used an EJ 89 for the last year and a half, and it is a good choice. I had an issue with some chrome flaking and they immediately replaced the faulty part. Good product and a reputable company. You are in a good place.

There's a section here for DE shaving....you'll need blades, a brush and soap or cream...and a coffee mug to start.

Thanked: 25Omega Boar of the cheapest Parker worked well for me starting out a few months ago. I got a ceramic pottery shaving bowl to use. Prorasco Green soap is good, RazoRock BrainFreeze, Arko Menthol, RazoRock Fresco and SRD lavender are the soaps I use. Biggest help to me is where people said to put some water onto the soap to soften it and to practice the lathering process. This helps the brushes break in and you learn about the lather. I had a ton of trouble lathering at first until I learned how much water and pressure to use. Now lathering is much easier! Also, make sure to get a variety of blades to try out, I tried over 15 blades and got 2 that work well and 1 that is OK, many of the rest were very painful!
