Thread: Next DE Blades?

I am also a fan of Sharks. I got lucky when I tried their sample. I was ready to hate them and move on, just because the first sample is never a good fit. I liked the result I got. Sharks will not work for everyone but I can go 2-3 days between shaves and have had good luck (still learning the skill of DE, on my way to SE). I was beginning to think I was the only person who had good luck with Shark. All about trial and error...

Thanked: 129Id also go with all the 7 O'Clock range, but I guess this thread reinforces the YMMV theory. Two further points.
Different blades will suit different razors, you'll need to continue experimenting
Don't get rid of any blades you've tried and discarded for at least a couple of years. As your technique improves or changes you may find some come back as favourites.

Thanked: 33I would give a try to Feathers and Kai. They're very sharp and smooth.

Thanked: 25I tried over a dozen blades before going with the Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellows and the Shark Super Stainless. Feathers, GSB, Derby, were incredibly painful on my neck (Felt like tons of paper cuts all over my neck), other brands just felt dull. Gillette 7 O Clock Greens are very smooth, but I get more weepers with them usually. The Gillette 7 O Clock Sharp Edge Yellow are my all time favorite so far! I tried the Kai as well as Personna reds and both were OK, but a little painful, but not as bad as the GSB and Feather and Derby!

I prefer Gillette Nacet Stainless. Trig silver edge, blue bird, and Gillette silver blues were close in performance to the Nacets.

I went with the personna blue. 100 for about $30 and I love them, won't use anything else now. I think I got them from royalshave.com or bullgooseshaving.net I have been getting 5 good and 1 decent shave per blade, and my stubble is pretty darn coarse.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

My top three would be the Gillette 7'clock Sharp-Edge (yellow pack), Feather and Gillette Minora (russian made)
There are tons out there, but these three are the ones that I tend to fall back onLast edited by Birnando; 12-03-2014 at 09:14 PM.
