Hi Jimmy - I'm trying to find the link again where I read a review that mentioned more blade exposure (width) produced a subtle "hollow singing", more like shaving with a straight, and they mentioned a specific blade as well, I'll try to find the review so I can post it.

    edited to add:

The Feather Super Pro has a 1.45mm exposure whereas the Feather Pro Guard has a 1.2mm exposure...going to look at the Kai's as well, but the thinking goes, the more exposure, the more feedback. I'll try to find the link...

Here is the lengthy, superb review of this razor by SharpSpine at The Original Safety Too forum, read "Day #7 of my Mongoose Journal", if you haven't already seen the review. I've read that the variety of blades available for the Mongoose, and various blades exposures and thickness, make this a very versatile SE razor:

Mongoose Stainless Steel SE | THE ORIGINAL SAFETY TOO

    Here is an interesting section:

"So, what's the big deal with the Feather Super blades you ask? Well, I'm glad you asked. In comparison to the Feather Pro blades, the Supers are more than twice as thick (.31mm vs .15mm) & they are wider giving a larger blade exposure (1.42mm vs 1.2mm). As most people know, I love the traditional SE blades from GEM which are much thicker than the DE blades that most people use. What I didn't realize is that the GEM blade isn't even as thick as this Feather Super blade is (.23mm vs .31mm). I did think that the GEM blades were thicker but that misconception must come from the spine that is on the blade which I am sure does help to give even more rigidity. For further reference, the injector blades that I purchased from Ted Pella are listed as having a thickness of .25mm."

The entire 3 pages is worth the read, super review in my opinion.

Thank both of you gentlemen for the links, and Celtic Crusader for posting the excellent video review of the Mongoose versus the Cobra.
