DE blades expire?
Do de blades expire? I loaded up my SS with an old wilkinson sword made in England from the 1960's and it ate my face. I'm going with it expired. I never get this kind of pain from a modern blade.
Sincerely, razor burned

Hmmmm......
I've used Valet Auto Strop blades that were from the 1930s.
Maybe a different type of blade?
I don't know a whole lot about DE blades.
Aren't they oiled or something like that?Is it over there or over yonder?

What are you doing dancing with a DE??
Serves you right. LOL
Actually if it was an open comb style, and or you didnt have the angle right it will eat up your face.
Clean metal has no expiration date.Your only as good as your last hone job.

I've only tried vintage DE blades a couple of times and I had a similar experience. I can't imagine that the old Gillette blades I tried were that crappy when new.

I can't say they expire I've shaved for 40+!years with a DEand I have used some pretty old blades, the wilkinson,s I used for years till I found other brands , my fav is feathers. So it's most likely the blade itself doesn't agree with you, I know I've shaved with blades that old before, it's a coating that they put on to make it sharp and not corrode. Tc

Thanked: 2284Damn, I have an old jig I got in a lot of razors that you can use to sharpen DE blades. Should've stuck that in the package I'm sending you Scott. Might have been fun to mess around with. Put a Coti edge on a DE blade....

Things always change but is it you or the blade ?
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
