Thanked: 0Trouble with the ear.
I'm having trouble with my right (Dominant side ) ear. I keep cutting it. I probably just need to be extra careful and slower but I do have trouble seeing over there.
Have I hit the nail on the head in slowing down or is there a trick or technique?

I have solved this problem by having mys sideburns at the level of my ears.

Good too see I am not the only person to pierce their ears with a razor. Ive seperated my lobe from my skin before. Taking things slow will help. The more familiar you get with your razor the easier it is to know where the toe is against your skin.

Don't worry eventually you'll be like the rest of us and cut it off completely and then there will be no problems.
It all comes with facility with the razor and being able to use both hands helps too.
When I started I would put my finger at the level where I wanted the sideburn to be and used that as a guide. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 0I realize this should have been posted in shaving with a straight razor. I have no problems with safety razors, other thanI don't like the shaves I get.

Thanked: 292First, if you aren't using a round point razor, you might want to consider using one until you figure out how to prevent unintended ear surgery.
I find that it is difficult to position my right hand properly to trim the sideburn on the right side of my face on the WTG pass. However, I can use my left hand to trim up to the edge of the right sideburn on the ATG pass. Likewise, I use my right hand ATG on the left side of my face. I trim the actual sideburns using either a DE razor or electric trimmer as it is easier to keep the edges straight and level. It's your face and your ear, so use whatever tools and techniques get the job done for you.

I cut my ear once. It bled for hours, and I swore it would be the last time. Since then I pull my ear lobe to tighten the sideburn area, and to keep it out of harms way. Thus far this has worked for me.

My solution is more sideburns and less goatee's. Stay away from spanish points and dreadnauts. If all else fails I guess a DE.
Don't drink and shave!
