Thread: Enlighten me on the Futur

I have had a Futur for several years, along with quite a few other DE's, old and new. THe Futur is possibly my favourite! (Changes from week to week but I keep coming back to it.)

I have found that it seems to work with most blades and I use Derbys through Feathers with no problems. There again, I have no problem with most blades in any razor.

The Merkur blades I don't like! They are rough.

Astras are my favourites, along with Feathers but perhaps I have a tough old face as I have never had razor burn! Not even with those plastic face rasps.

I had a futur for a few weeks and just couldn't get on with it, not sure why, it's a nice looking and well put together piece of kit. For a smooth razor it never slipped in a wet hand and loved the adjustable aspect. As others have said, the merkur blades are not too great.

I use a gillette flair tip with isreali personna blades and get a cracking shave. That said, I've just bought a merkur 34c on the advice of a friend.
