Thoughts on the RAW Shaving RS-10
Gentlemen,
I don't ever remember a double edge safety razor feeling like a jewel in my hands until the RAW Shave RS-10. Not even the Wolfman, or the Paradigm titanium. Wolfman's workmanship was dazzling, and I loved Paradigm's light weight and handle design, but neither razor gave me a perfectly comfortable shave — for me, comfort over perfect.
RAW RS-10 meets both considerations. Admirably, I might add. The razor, on the mild plate, gives me a perfect shave, while it pampers my ultra sensitive skin. Perfect and comfort on the same plate. As a longtime wet shaver, predominantly with the straight razors, what more can I ask for?
Much has been written about the RAW RS-10 razor's impressive fit and finish. I agree with everything noted. The razor is beautiful. A piece of art. Its ideal balance from where I hold the handle, slightly above the middle with the pinky anchoring the tip, makes the razor all the more suited for my arthritic hands. The razor is heavy, but not so heavy that it overwhelms my hands. I dare say, for a stainless steel razor, RAW RS-10's weight feels less than that of other prominent stainless steel DE razors.
The handle's grip, which consists of canals rather than deep knurling, and the smooth finish, render a distinct softness to this razor. I really like this element in the RAW RS-10. The razor is a joy to hold.
I have had several shaves with the RAW RS-10's mild plate, using Feather blades, and each shave has been close and comfortable. So comfortable that I have been tempted to add a fourth pass to my usual three for the pleasure of it. Soon I will try the more aggressive plate for comparison.
Not many double edge razors treat my ultra sensitive skin as gently as the RAW RS-10. The only razor that comes close to the RAW RS-10 in this respect is the Timeless 0.68 with the scalloped top and base plates. I do have the Timeless. The RazoRock Game Changer, too. Except for couple Gillettes, that's the limit of my safety razors. I don't see that changing anytime soon.
The RAW RS-10 is pricey. To me, though, the razor is worth every penny, not only because of its overall quality, in the built and and the heavenly shave, but also because this exceptional razor makes me happy. My morning shaves are a joy. That's worth a fortune.

Nice review Obie, the one thing I really dislike about that razor is the RS initialled monogram on the top plate, that's the one part of the overall design that's a failure for me.

Jaime, I'm surprised they have done that. Were I the designer, I would have transferred the monogram elsewhere, perhaps on the handle tip. Still, I am willing to forgive that shortcoming for the razor's overall quality. This razor is the sweetest DE I have ever used. Love it.

Hmm, their advertising seems to be pushing luxury like that other one I tried.
I think this time I'll pass and stick with my Rex. I can't imagine a better shave. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I did not buy the razor because of the company market focus. I couldn't care less about that. I bought the RAW RS-10 because everything I read about it was positive. Most of all, I liked the way it looked. Thus far I have not been disappointed. Love the razor.
The other razor to which you refer, I assume, is the OneBlade. Interestingly enough, although I no longer have my OneBlade, I still think it is a good razor, especially for someone looking for shave comfort. It is easy and safe, and if one is willing to spend time learning its characteristics fully, the razor will reward,
As for the Rex Ambassador, I have been eying that lately, and in the past few days I have almost clicked the BUY button several times. Before the weekend is up, I might still do it.
But back to the RAW SR-10, thus far it has been a magical razor for me.

Very nice review, Obie.
I have been admiring this razor, as well, and would love to try it seeing as there are quite a few exhuberantly positive reviews. However, considering its price, especially the conversion into Canadian dollars, the distracting logo on the top-plate and the look of the handle, I highly doubt I'll be ordering one. I don't foresee it shaving that much better than the razors I already own. Having said this, if I do ever get a chance to try one or have the funds to buy just the head, if that option becomes available, then I might just try it.
Enjoy the shaver, my friend.Laughter, Love, & Shaving

That razor stand is so expensive if I had it I'd grind it down and turn it into a razor.
