Thread: Initial impression King Gillette 3 piece cc razor

Gave the razor a test whirl around the face this morning. It did not give me as close a shave as I get from my Fatip, Fatip OC slant, Rockwell 6C with #6 base plate and Gillette Fat Boy at #9. It shaves just as smooth and comfortably as those though so likely not aggressive enough for me.

The handle that I thought was grippy enough when dry is not quite so grippy when wet and soapy. A larger diameter handle may also suit me better. For comparison, the Bulldog stainless steel hand is one I really like for diameter and good grip when wet and soapy. OTH the handle supplied will get the job done.

I did use a King Gillette stainless steel blade which are made in Russia. My guess is at the same plant other Gillette branded blades come from. It seemed as smooth and sharp as my Gillette Silver Blue and Nacet blades.

For me, the shave was not BBS but could qualify as close to DFS. All in all, for someone who likes a milder razor it may very satisfying.

To be fair, I am going to use it all next week to see if anything changes as I get more used to the razor.
