Tighten that screw!
I gave my GF a non-adjustable DE to shave her legs with. Last week she was shaving & was getting all cut up. After a little investigation & fiddling, she discovers that the screw mechanism has loosened & the blade is more or less free-floating inside the head.
So double-check the tightness of the screw mechanism (or the setting if your DE is adjustable) before you start scraping away!

Back when I shaved with a DE I would loosen the head to rinse between my first and second pass. Once while using a Merkur slant I was day dreaming and didn't tighten it back up. Heck of a nick to remind me. Never forgot after that rude awakening.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Or you could get a Lady Schick or a Gem or Everready. No screws to loosen there. I am just saying.
