Obie, I don't think anyone's beard would match your legendary Assyrian bear pelt, much less mine!

I suppose my beard would be considered average to slightly above average, whatever that amounts to as I'm not sure what an 'average' beard is. In other words the Feather would probably be fine for me....

Default Feather Stainless Steel Safety Razor

    Hello, Ryan:

I must say, the Feather is hard to resist. It's a handsome razor with a solid feel to it. Give it a try. It could work for you.

    Regards,

    Obie

Hmm that's interesting Obie. I have a pretty tough beard and the feather gives me comfortable BBS shaves. I had to do some real experimenting with the angle though to get it dialed in.

As to blades yea the feather blades work the best but there are other alternatives. Right now I've been using some mercurs and they are not bad at all.

    Hello, thebigspendur:

As you well know, beards and faces are different. They also react differently to shaving tools. I did experiment with angles for the Feather, yes, of course, and used different blades, that, too, but the shave I had from the Edwin Jagger seemed to be better.

By the way, I have used Merkur blades and found them a total disaster — for me. My face felt as if licked by an armadillo. My current blades are Feather, Gillette "yellow packs," Personna "red packs," Super Iridium, Derby, and a few other ones I can't recall. For the most part, though, nothing beats the Feather — for me.

Now, I have not given up completely on the Feather reazor. How could I? That is a beautifully made razor. Talk about quality and precision. One of these days, I might buy another one just to have it around for its quality.

    Stay well.

    Regards,

    Obie

Im not DE man myself, I dont have alot of experience with DEs, although i do own a Futur and shave with it once in a while.

I find the Feather a challenge to shave with. It gives very little feedback, probably because the blade cannot vibrate, its locked in place. Also the heavy, robust design and material stops resonation. Furthermore, the angle is hard to find and maintain. The razor leaves only a small "gap" of angle, where it cuts the hair. If the angle is slightly off, it wont cut nearly as much.

I am very happy with the razor, and I welcome the challenge of shaving with it.
When are you doing a video on it!?!?!??

Soon my friend, soon. I need to be a little more comfortable with it first.

i'm not really the video making type.. i am tempted to recreate an unboxing of the feather all stainless though... people really need to see just how well this razor is put made..

i especially love the way it covers the excess blade on the sides... it truly is a work of art..
